While riding the gondola, I realized that I was starving (since I missed lunch). Initially thought I would go to Yao Yue but the walk turned out to be too long (and I didn't realize there was a bus!) so I stopped here instead, lured by the reviews of the smoked chicken and tea fried rice...plus the cute cartoon birds.

I sat down and looked out the window to enjoy the view but was immediately distracted by 3-4 mosquitoes bumping into the window pane. The 3-4 mosquito bites on my ankle from my trip to Jinguashi throbbed in itchiness and I quickly grabbed a napkin to kill them, only for them to be replaced by 3-4 more. I tried my best to ignore them and the itch in my ankle as my food arrived, but as I took a bite of the tea fried rice (deliciously soft and fluffy) a huge mosquito landed on the side of my plate of chicken. I quickly killed it and tried to enjoy my meal, while eyeing the bugs.

As I stated before, the rice was delicious and had that hint of tea that's super unique. The smoked chicken leg was OK, nothing special and for whatever reason I wasn't expecting it to be ice cold (I know it's common for chicken to be served this way in Taiwan). I also ordered the rose tea, which came in a big pitcher and tiny tea cup, which was cute - but it was WAY too sweet.

I finished 1/3 of the tea, most of the rice and almost half of the chicken when a gigantic mosquito made it's presence known in my line of sight. At that point, I cut my losses and stood up and left. I spent about $650 TWD here, which was way...

Surprisingly good food. We came to Maokong to look a the scenery and stumbled upon this little gem. Originally ordered some drinks and and afternoon tea set but ended up staying because the owner recommended some dishes to us and we loved it. The smoked chicken and signature salted pork were delicious. What really won me over though was the bamboo. It was tender and flavorful without being too salty. The natural sweetness of the bamboo really shined due to the simplicity of the dish. I got a kiwi smoothie and you can tell a bunch of kiwi went into the drink. CP value was...

We randomly chose this place to have our lunch. It was not crowded when we arrived so we did not have to wait that long before we got our orders. While our meal was a bit pricy —we chose a bundle meal that's good for 4 pax but can probably be good for 5pax— it was delicious and the servings were generous. There is a good view of downtown Taipei, which made me enjoy our food better. Place is roughly 5-7min walk from Maokong station. Highly...

This food is the best I've had in Taiwan! Every dish has tea incorporated and it is absolutely delicious. We had cold tea and tea brewed from fresh leaves. It brews much more quickly than I was used to, only 30 seconds and it comes out strong. Sat by a window with a fantastic view of Taipei and Taipei 101 with the mountains behind, it was gorgeous. Highly recommend this place
