The food was great but I felt that they didn’t offer consistent service. It was our first time there so we asked the server to make some recommendations and walk us through the different options. He went though the daily menu and explained the most expensive meat set. We didn’t order the more expensive items because we opted for variety.
I did notice that after we placed our orders we basically lost our servers’ attention. I saw other servers grilling meat for all the other tables around us while we were left to ourselves. When we asked if we could get help grilling the better cuts of meat on our platter, the server grilled one piece and left, then came back after 5 minutes and grilled a second piece and never came back. We ended up just grilling the meat ourselves.
When it came to time for dessert, (2 hours since sitting down) our server politely asked us to enjoy our desserts at the patio or on the bar since we only had our table for 2 hours. We understood and were ok with that, but no one came to guide us to our new seats. About 15 minutes later, another server brought our desserts to the same table we were sitting at. Our server came back to fill our waters after and didn’t say anything so we continued to sit and chat.
After we finished desserts our server came back to ask us to pay our bill and said the guests who were waiting for our table after us had arrived. We obliged, settled our bills and walked out, only to see multiple empty tables and not one person waiting out front. Overall the staff were friendly but I felt that the service level didn’t meet my expectations given the price point and how they position their brand. It was definitely not okay that they made us felt lesser than the...
Read moreWhen it comes to Beef, this is the place. They grill all their meat over charcoal. All their meat are very tender and juicy, you can tell there's a lot of fat in the meat by how big the fire it gets when the meat is placed on the grill. And they are all very tasty, juicy, and yummy.
If it is too hard to decide which meat to choose, I recommend looking at set menu, they have many different type of set menu to choose from. The difference in the set menu is the type and quality of the meat. This way you could try out several different type of meat that they offer, they are all very good. I also order beef intestine because I want to know how it is different in Korean beef intestine. As it turns out Kanpai is better because they removed 2/3 of the fat 🤤 and somehow make it more tender.
Their shrimp sushi it's just okay Oyster soup is pretty good. Matcha ice cream is average. Soft egg yolk is good. The grilled chicken is just a little bit...
Read moreCame to Kampala classic expecting to be wowed by high quality yakinuki. I came here to eat Wagyu beef and the beef was the most disappointing part of my meal. When it was brought out and had really nice marbling. I asked for it to be cooked medium rare. It was a bit on the rare side and the beef was really chewy. Typically really good meat is easy to cut through almost like cutting through butter. This wasn’t the case and I was pretty disappointed.
The other items such as the chicken and vegetable turned out much better and I enjoyed those items. Not sure if J would come back. Perhaps if my beef was cooked properly I would have had a different experience.
