We have been staying at Home Hotel Xinyi for the past 1.5 weeks during quarantine and the experience has been above and beyond our wildest expectations! We stayed at the Extraordinary Suite as a family 4 with 2 young kids. First of all, the room has a separate living and sleeping area, which are both extremely spacious. The living area has a couch, table, kitchen sink with fridge and desk making it almost seem like a 1 bedroom apartment. The amenities are top notch including premium Taiwanese tea bags and lovely shampoo/conditioner/body wash. The bathroom is massive with heated Toto toilet seats and amazing rain shower with bath tub allowing our kids to have bubble baths every day. The highlight is the food and service! All 3 meals delivered each day were delicious and better than food you would expect from many restaurants. The hotel has its own kitchen so the food is delivered fresh and piping hot. Examples of meals include ribeye steak with roasted potatoes, red wine stewed beef with noodles, squid ink paella with king prawns, German pork knuckle and Belgian waffles and bagels for breakfast. Every meal comes with a soup and fruit and they have served 8 different types of fruit so far. There has not been a single repeat of a meal and the quality of the ingredients is top notch. The food is also both tasty as well as healthy and always offers a good balance between protein, carbs and vegetables.
This hotel treats quarantine guests as they would their normal guests. Lastly, all communication is done through the Line messaging app so all service requests are met right away and nothing is intrusive. You can even ask for extra towels, trash bags, cleaning supplies, a vacuum cleaner to borrow, etc. They are also wonderful in bringing up Uber eats deliveries right away even if you order multiple orders throughout the day. We received 2 yoga mats as complimentary gifts for staying 14 nights. Although we were in quarantine, Home Hotel made us feel like we were on a...
Read moreI stayed last week and after all the wonderful reviews online and from my own mother, I was looking forward to the trip.
Things started badly at check in with an unfriendly and unhelpful receptionist. There was an awkward moment when she assigned rooms (rather than asking) with her assuming I was rooming with my sister’s husband and baby. She spoke so hurriedly that I was made to feel this was a chore to her and skipped key points (eg. Where breakfast was located, which floor the rooms were on, hotel facilities etc) and didn’t even offer to have our mountain of luggage sent to the room.
The rooms themselves, I have no complaints. Very clean, comfortable, and well situated EXCEPT for my final night when I realised there was insufficient sound proofing with clubbing music thumping past midnight.
Breakfast was an abbreviated version of standard hotel fare, though I was impressed by the Korean rice cake one morning and the staff there were super nice and helpful.
The housekeeping staff were lovely, polite, and QUICK when asked to help with anything. I also really liked their note on the sheets offering a selection of benefits (voucher, free minibar, or gift) for opting out of getting your sheets changed for the sake of the environment. The gift was a tea towel made from recycled cotton and very pretty.
One more thing was that I asked the reception to mail a letter for me and from past experience, I knew the cost would be under NT$50 but then to my surprise, I received a letter (written in Chinese, which I have limited skills at reading) asking me to go and pay more money. I was too tired to make a fuss and paid the difference and they handed me a receipt which turned out to be they sent it as a registered package.
For those who have had pleasant experiences, I envy your luck, but for me, I will NOT recommend this...
Read moreThis is my second time staying in this hotel. As always, the staff are extremely friendly. The room I stayed was always clean and neat. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful stay here. I will definitely be coming back.
Updated: After my trip, I can finally take my time to write this review. Overall, my experience with this hotel is excellent.
Location: It is only 5mins walk from Taipei 101 and it's station so it is quite easy to get here from MRT. Some people said it is hard to get taxi here. But that wasn't the case for me as I always see one or two taxis parking in front of the hotel.
Service: The staff can speak "okay" English. Sometimes they might have problems explaining some details but they tried their best and I knew what they were saying so I did not have problems with that.
Room: I stayed at the Original King Bedroom. The room was always clean. The bed felt great and I slept well during my stay there. My only small complain is that the washroom needs a bit of renovation.
Food: I only went for breakfast for two days. Overall, the food were better than last year. There were more choices and tasted better.
Internet: WiFi here was decent. But don't expect you get super high speed Internet here.
Overall: I will still give this hotel a 5/5. The value you get from this hotel is probably one of the bests in the area. The hotel itself is starting to get old but friendly staff, clean room, and convenient location made up for it. There are so many bars, restaurants, and shops around this hotel so you don't need to worry about not having enough time buying souvenirs for...
