可一不可再
A legend resto that most of my friends recommended to go a decade ago… Unfortunately most of my TPE trip were ad-hoc. So never been able to try.
We all curious on legend resto, so am I… , my last TPE trip in Mar, tried to walk in 11.30am on weekday when they just opened, they told me waiting list after 1.30pm, I was thinking crazy, so didn‘t mark for WL, and tried again 2pm walk in, thinking no one or non peak after 2pm for lunch.
My wrong calculation, I went there 2pm, they told me next available at 4pm. I surrended, instead I enjoyed my happy lunch in Din Tai Fung.
After learning my lesson well in Mar, I did go Orange Hot Pot today 11.20am, of course they were fully booked, and told me next available at 1.45pm.
So I am “lucky” to get my seat today.
After trial, l really doubt why they are still having guests after 4pm… an ordinary hot pot resto, food is fresh, but I can get all food at home without a hassle. Why bother to line up?
I‘m a pescatarian, but they don’t have most seafood on menu, geoduck, lobster, Jumbo shrimps all out of stock!! 3 of 5 seafood menu are out of stock in mid day… what a nice “disappointing” resto!
For similar pricing, much better resto than Orange else where in TPE. For lower pricing, even more choices out there, why need to pick Orange?? For higher price, no way for Orange….
SIGH… a waste for meal today.
And surprisingly, they served noodles as one of the 1st dishes… cooked noodles, which normally we eat noodles as...
Read moreA lot of polarized reviews on here, sadly I am adding another poor rating. Tea served and be seated while waiting? Sorry, that did not happen despite standing for 10+ mins. Poor service? Yes, it is extremely poor, especially for a restaurant charging this premium price. Refill tea? Did not happen although the staff are able to clear your empty plates at world record speed, guess refilling tea is not in their SOP. Coming with this world class speed is a savageous serving style, utensils clinging and crashing on the table, stirring crab congee like a motor and ended up splashing them outside of the pot, breaking tofu while putting them into the pot, staff rush in and rush out without saying a word, taking away bowls in use... The list can go on forever. The other shabu shabu restaurant at same price level has dedicated staff to serve you throughout the whole meal. Food is good and fresh, but at this luxurious price point, this did not save the day as it is...
Read moreIt is an amazing place to have hotpot in Orange Shabu. Service is excellent and beyond my expectations.
The waiter and waitress are friendly and caring. When I told them we ate too much in Taiwan already in the past few days, they suggested us not too take 2 combo and go for 1 combo and just order a addition meat.
It was a great suggestion as we were full at the end without the additional combo!! This made our experience much better!!
The tomato appetiser is a must try, the skin of the tomato is peeled, sweet and juicy.
The US beef is tender and fresh, the pork is also very good although I am no longer a crazy meat eater. (Ate too much already….)
The congee at the end is a must have!
The almonds deserts are also a must try after the hotpot, refreshing and chill after a hotpot is great!!
Price point in Taiwan is relatively high, but it worth every penny and it is a lifetime...
