Shang-hao Snack Bar — Restaurant in Yuchi Township

This place has really good local Taiwanese food. It’s a boss lady who runs it and man she looks tough as nails. Luckily I use to work in a kitchens and have earned my strips on ranks in my younger days, so I can relate. She just means business and she’s passionate about her food.

Yes, she’s definitely passionate. All the dishes she served is absolutely delicious and oh my gosh, so fresh!!! That live fish is the star of the show. It had a savory broth with ginger, green onions, and goji berries.

The soup was very comforting with the cold AC on. The local veggies with mushrooms had a nice crunch to them. The wild boar definitely was another level. The chicken dish with the slivers of ginger is really good too. I couldn’t stop smiling as I was taking every bite. All in all it was one of my best meals in Taiwan. Beer would have been great with this meal. For the price I highly recommend coming to eat here.

Local dogs and cats also come here to support boss lady too haha. They are very friendly. It’s funny cause I bumped into them at the laundromat down the street later that night too hahaha!

Good food but service is just amazingly awful ... We arrived and was figuring out how the ordering works. Zero customer in restaurant at this moment. After a few minutes of understanding the set menu, we were trying to figure what to order as our group of 6, only 2 person was able to eat fish. So in the midst of figuring what to order what works for our group, lady boss got impatient. Out of the blue, guy boss came out and exclaim their fish is the best blah blah blah ... With an aggressive tone ... Enough said of the amazing welcome that is so...

A great place if you’d like to taste local food. The ingredients are local and not very common from other places. The cooking skill is good that you can enjoy the food favor a lot. It is a bit salty but still fine with rice. Everyone was praising the shrimps and soup. We ordered set menu of 1500 TWD as we have total 9 adults and 1 3-year-old.
