Giving the food a low rating as the star menu item " steamed fish" was actually pre-made and not hot (not even warm).
We ordered 1) steamed lake fish (president fish sold out),2) clam and mushroom soup, 3)peppered pork and 4)fried veg( picture not included)
Of the countless restaurants I've been to, I've never been to a place where steamed fish is served 2 minutes after completing the order. I gave them the benefit of the doubt that there was a double up in order from another table but I was naive. The fish was served in a plate of Luke warm sauce (relying on the candles to bring it up to temperature). Fish was not close to being hot.
It is clear that fish was steamed ahead of time and they pour the sauce on just before serving which isn't right. They eventually gave me a new one which was to temperature but also with prestreamed fish. All other dishes came out piping hot with steam coming out so I just cannot fathom why they can't serve steamed fish properly.
Overall food was disappointing (the pork was overpowered with pepper salt,) and clam soup was ok. Vegetable was the best as it was fried up. Service was good. Given the price of all fish dishes were the most expensive compared to other similar restaurants in the neighbourhood, I would recommend going to any of the other...
Read moreVery good traditional Thao food! Loved their friendly service, all smiles while recommending us their specialties.
We got their signature red tilapia, Z. ailanthoides egg roll, Z. latifola gratin, fiddlehead ferns, and a mushroom soup. The standout for me is the egg roll, the Z. ailanthoides leaves adds a very unique fragrance to the egg and its absolutely stunning. The Z. latifola looks and tastes like bamboo shoots but it's actually the stem of a rice plant that is infected by a type fungus. It's a very interesting dish that I encourage others to give it a try. The fish although their signature isn't very special, pretty normal for a feeashwater fish. The fiddlehead ferns as a dish is pretty rare but it turned out to be delicious too. The only let down was the mushroom soup which is quite...
Read moreStaff were really attentive and friendly, especially one of the ladies. We ordered the set meal for 2 (600NT) which was a lot of food. Comes with 3 bowls of rice - one feedback though is that we wanted to substitute the 3 bowls of rice with 1 bamboo rice and top up 5 NT, but they didn't allow, of which we ended up wasting 2 bowls of rice which we didn't touch after. Would have been great if they were a bit more flexible and have less wastage. However still good food overall, and possibly the best value around the area, so I'll recommend you to drop by as the market shuts by...
