桂公子小酒館 The Highballers' Bar — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

Visited this bar a few weeks back on a weekday night at 9pm. Was not crowded, only a few tables were in the shop. Shop was located at the basement of an apartment which was easy to find with bright neon lights.

Upon stepping into the bar, you are greeted by the bartenders. Solo diners tend to get the bar seats. For my drink, I chose the 桂公子 which should be their signature(?) Drink was really fragrant and had a decent amount of alcohol taste, so no they don’t skim on the liquor! The presentation was really beautiful.

For the food, I just got the pork chives dumplings which I did not capture in a photo, however it was a good portion for dinner. Their sauce elevated the taste of the dumplings as well. This was recommended by a friendly bartender!

Overall it was really easy to order and a pleasant experience to be here, and I felt safe as a solo female diner in this bar space....

I love the facade of this bar. It's inconspicuous like a special massage parlour. Perfect for the Linsen N Road area, but aimed at a younger crowd. The inside has a bit of "East meets West" flair. They have a lot of tea cocktails served in traditional Asian style drinkware. The service was really good. When one of my drinks came out slowly, they gave us free shots and apologized. I like that this bar has an actual menu. So tired of pretentious bars that do "no menu" drinks but make really mediocre overpriced drinks.
