Date: January 19, 2025 Time: 11:30 AM Location: Golden Dragon Restaurant, Grand Hotel Taipei Table: No. 63
I had the opportunity to dine at the Golden Dragon Restaurant at the Grand Hotel Taipei, but unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. Here are my impressions of the dishes served:
Crispy Skin Chicken: This dish must be pre-ordered, but surprisingly, it was served cold. When asked, the staff could not confirm if it was meant to be a cold dish or a hot entrée. The chicken was excessively greasy, and the texture of the meat was tough and unpleasant to chew.
Stir-Fried Broccoli: The broccoli was undercooked, with hard stems that made it difficult to enjoy.
Seasonal Stir-Fried Vegetables/Bean Curd Rolls: The portion size was shockingly small, especially considering the high price. For six adults, the dish only amounted to about a third of a bowl per person. It felt like poor value for money and left everyone disappointed.
Prawn and Tofu Hotpot: This dish was overwhelmingly salty and lacked the balance of flavors one would expect. A hint of vinegar or richer sauce would have significantly improved the taste.
Overall, the dining experience was underwhelming, with several issues in both preparation and portion size. While the atmosphere of the Grand Hotel is undeniably elegant, the food quality and service did not meet the expected standards. I would hesitate to recommend this restaurant without significant improvements to the menu...

I recently dined at the Golden Dragon Restaurant, located within the iconic Grand Hotel Taipei. This historic hotel, established in 1952 by Madame Chiang Kai-shek, has hosted numerous dignitaries and stands as a symbol of Taiwan’s rich cultural heritage .
The restaurant offers panoramic views of Taipei, including the Keelung River and the city’s skyline, thanks to its elegant glass curtain design . The ambiance is both grand and inviting. The staff provided exceptional service, making us feel welcomed from the moment we arrived.
We were fortunate to secure a table at 1 PM with short notice booking, but I highly recommend booking in advance, as the restaurant is often fully booked for months.
The Cantonese cuisine was exquisite. Each dish was flavorful and beautifully presented. The desserts, in particular, were both visually stunning and delicious.
Overall, the Golden Dragon Restaurant offers a memorable dining experience that combines culinary excellence with a touch of history and elegance. I look forward to returning on my next...

The food was served warm and with average presentation. The quality, taste, and portion sizes were average.
Wo got our first Dim Sum dish and the waited 10 minutes or the rest of our dishes. Turns out that someone had put our dishes on a serving table about 3 feet behind us and then just left it there! Several servers came and put and took thing off of the cart, but did not bring us our food. After a while, I had to ask a server to bring us our food, at which time it was no longer hot. Also, servers did not remove empty dim sum dishes from out table. Very disappointing service for such a prestigious location.
The decor is upscale and they have a very nice view if you sit by the window. The Dim Sum, some were good and some were bad, overall average. You're pretty much paying for the view, not the food.
Overall, a disappointing meal from such an upscale establishment.
