Not bad but not amazing either, just ok and that’s ok, a little bit pricier than other places I’ve been and smaller portions
Beef soup is not a lot, bowl is small, and noodle to beef soup ratio too heavily leaning on noodle side and the noodles aren’t super special either, neither is the soup. The beef isn’t super soft and tender either, it’s not tough or anything(it’s what you’d expect) but I kind of thought it would be like a fall apart or melt in your mouth feeling. Also there wasn’t that many pieces of beef…(not really how the photo suggests) although I did share.
The sides were ok too, the beef roll I wouldn’t really recommend because it was kind of dry and there wasn’t much filling.
I did like the red bean saobing.
This place is just ok, I wouldn’t rush to come again, but it’s not bad either…kind of just…in the middle. No specific dislike but no...
Read moreI had a bowl of Spicy Pepper Beef Noodles and drank a bottle of Lemon Tea. The beef cutlets were quite juicy and tender and probably the best ones I’d recently eaten. The noodles were so chewy, smooth, and a bit hot along with the broth. The broth also had amazing, salty, meaty, and spicy taste.
Last but not least, the price wasn’t cheap for a beef noodle soup, but the great quality and texture of noodles were absolutely worthy of giving it a try. No wonder there was a presidential award saying 1st place! Overall, it’s a 10 out of 10 no doubt.
FYI, after entering, you find a seat (upstairs) , fill in the menu which is on your table, and pay for it at the counter which is exterior of the restaurant. In addition, you also obtain drink from the fridge and tableware from...
Read moreI enjoyed this place many years ago but quality has gone down somewhat. Their original location was in Ximending but closed over 7 years ago and the Shuanglian store seem to be the flagship now. Soup maintains the original flavour but it seems a tad watered down now. I remember before finishing the noodles and that there would be some star anise pieces left in the soup but not this time around. Noodles and beef are great but some of the tendon is gooey and chewy. The now-closed location at the underground mall near Taipei Main station had a lot more flavour when I got to try it last year Not much to say about the service but ambience feels rather run down despite not being...
