Ordered at 1:30ish on a Saturday and there was still a queue. Luckily it was a short and quick one as we just came down from hiking Mt. Dantong.
3 items on the menu were already sold out. So we opted for Pork and Seafood and Traditional Beef. What can we say -
The old grandma manning the counter is fast, efficient, and friendly. She served us with a smile even though we couldn't understand each other as she mainly only speaks Chinese. Nevertheless, hand gestures got the job done. It was very quick.
The seafood and pork noodles had a LOT of things in it - fishballs, fishcakes, boiled egg, chicken and pork pieces and mushrooms! The traditional beef was very tender. But not too tender. It was just right to have the chewiness and tenderness. The tomatoes provided the incredible balance of sweetness and tartness to the soup making it feel less heavy and cuts through the greasiness. It also packed an added umami rounding the dish altogether.
This spot is a must visit. The smile from granny itself seals the deal. $140 yuan for the beef and $100 for the pork (around the$3 and $2 USD respectively). Incredible taste, incredible value, incredible service. While it lacks the ambiance - who needs it anyway to grab...
Read moreStepping into this bustling food court, the aroma of simmering beef broth immediately captures the senses. The beef noodles here are undeniably delicious, boasting a unique flavor that sets them apart from the rest. With a consistently long line, it's evident that this spot has garnered quite the following among beef noodle enthusiasts.
Arriving early is key, as securing a seat can be a challenge during peak hours. However, the anticipation is well worth it once you take your first bite. The tender beef, perfectly cooked noodles, and rich, savory broth create a symphony of flavors that dance on the palate.
While the ambiance may lack the sophistication of a fine dining establishment, the focus here is clearly on the food. Each bowl is crafted with care, evident in every slurp-worthy spoonful. Whether you're a seasoned aficionado or simply craving a comforting bowl of noodles, this place is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic beef...
Read moreThis place came highly recommended by locals, so I decided to give it a try during my visit to the second-floor food court in NanMeng Market. With around 20–30 people queuing, I waited nearly 30 minutes to order – and unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to the hype.
We tried both the Tomato and the Traditional beef noodle flavours. The knife-cut noodles were thick and chewy, as expected, but lacked any real flavor on their own. The beef was reasonably tender but didn’t stand out in taste. The broth for both dishes was average – nothing memorable.
While it’s clear this spot has earned attention, it feels more like a tourist-driven sensation rather than a truly exceptional noodle experience. If you’re tight on time, I wouldn’t say it’s worth the wait.
Tip: If you’re arriving by MRT, make sure to take Exit 1 – as Exit 2 is currently closed, and Google Maps hasn’t been updated to reflect this.
