Bean There Cafe — Restaurant in Dar es-Salaam

Excellent cafe! Lovely staff and the food is well priced for Masaki and always fresh. The coffee is not very strong, but still flavorful and delicious. The atmosphere is nice and the layout has a play area for kids so it feels cozy yet lively. The serving staff is amazing and so friendly, and the owners are always checking in to see if there's anything they can do for you!

My only issue is with seating. Myself and a friend have come for food and drinks and on separate occasions been asked to move to a different table to accommodate other groups waiting. That isn't a problem, but they ask us instead of people with a single empty coffee and a laptop that have been there for hours. Please choose to designate one of the high large tables for laptop users, because when you move us it ruins our meals (and we buy full meals!) and makes us feel like we are less important than people on laptops that don't...

I'd decided to go to Bean There after ages with my family for a late brunch. At the last minute family decided to stay home. So I went to pick up food - ordered a sandwich and a salad. It took over 30minutes! I kept inquiring what was the holdup, because the cafe wasn't even busy - most of the customers were just there for the free wifi and coffee. I could count only 3 tables that had ordered food. Over 30min just for a sandwich and a salad takeaway! It's not as if staff shortage was an issue, they did not look overwhelmed or busy. They couldn't even give me the excuse that the kitchen is backed up with orders... The manager on duty couldn't give me a valid reason for why my order was taking so long, except a mumbled apology.

Anyways, saved my family a long 1 hour wait had I gone there with them and had ordered entire breakfast/lunch meals as we originally had planned.

Sadly...

The coffees and juices were phenomenal, the food was a bit of a let down but OK. Will definitely go back. Great spot to chill and chat and enjoy good drinks!

The atmosphere, drinks, decor, cutlery and service are all pretty great, great seating, creative menue, fresh ideas. The foods not perfect but I'd definitely go back again.

The manager came around and checked on everything too which is great to see.

Food wise we had the munch and crunch salad which was just lettuce and sliced apple but was good, the avo and hummus toast was also pretty good, it's hard to find good bread here I think which is a let down, however the prawn dish was super dry and over cooked unfortunately. Still nice ideas and different from so many places in dar, intrigued to try more...
