I ate here or received food delivered to my AirBnB opposite almost daily for 8 weeks which is probably the best compliment I can give it. The Grand restaurant has a colossal menu of various international cuisines including local dishes, Italian, burgers, Chinese and Indian. In most restaurants this would usually be a bad sign however I can attest that everything I had was incredibly tasty and accurate to the style of cuisine it was offering. Highlights of the menu include the chicken crunch 147 burger and caponese bolognaise.
Prices are very affordable and as a short term expat I found they were usually cheaper than attempting to cook yourself as supermarkets here are significantly more expensive than UK.
Staff are very attentive and service often very quick. When ordering via WhatsApp they often asked how the food was. The restaurant operates 24/7 and I honestly think this is the best place to go anywhere in the city centre.
The Grand also offers a breakfast buffet between 7-12 which was very convenient for me before heading into work at the local hospital. It offers black coffee, water, juices, an egg station, baked goods, crepes, pancakes, fresh fruit and a help yourself hot food station (which could be inconsistent at times but usually offered grilled tomatoes, pork sausage, mushrooms etc).
Couldn’t recommend highly enough especially if living in the PSPF...
Read moreGrand Restaurant is a fantastic place for great food and wonderful vibes. I have been here several times and have never been disappointed.
The food is delicious and not too expensive. The breakfast buffet is very reasonable (TZS 16,500/person) and has extensive selection options. The Chinese menu is also fantastic. The chicken and shitake mushroom soup is my comfort food. Even the Western menu is delicious - I've tried their burgers, pork ribs and steaks - and all have been fantastic.
The service is also great. The staff are very cheerful and nice. Food and drinks come within 10 - 15 minutes of ordering. And it is open 24x7!!
The best part is the vibes of this place. It has the most stunning wall art I've ever seen in Dar. They have live music in the evenings on weekends which is usually great too. I used to come there often to watch matches during the football World Cup and loved the experience. Overall, this place ranks among my favourite...
Read moreThis restaurant strikes the perfect balance between casual and sophisticated, resembling an upmarket family diner aimed at adults. The menu is impressively comprehensive, offering everything from light snacks and salads to grilled items, burgers and wraps, as well as cocktails and desserts. Prices are on the high side, but this is understandable given its location just above a casino. Service is smooth and efficient, handled by staff who clearly know the rhythm of the place. The atmosphere is ideal for those preparing for a night out — it's a place where you can enjoy either a quick bite or a full meal before hitting the town.
This isn’t your typical shawarma; it's a creative Swahili-style wrap with chapati as the base. The local twist sets it apart, offering a different texture and flavour experience. To be fair, the menu does label it as a 'wrap', so it's more of a regional reinterpretation than a misrepresentation.
