Stayed twice on either side of a safari. Two nights before and one night after. The first stay was great. No problems and staff were great. We had a water view suite which had an unexpected washer/dryer. Big bonus! I think the treatment by staff is contingent on the room you book.
When we checked in after returning from safari, I booked a city view room as it was one night. The staff wasn’t as friendly at the front desk, we came in late and tired and asked for one extra bottle of water for a sleep machine so we wouldn’t have to venture out to the street to find one. They never delivered it. The iron and hair dryer both did not work in our second room but they did in the suite. The AC in the entire building went out in our second stay. We ordered room service, many items were included in a breakfast and we ordered double unknowing. Room service was nice to call back to check and said they would remove the doubles. Then called back later to ask us to cancel the order, which is not available on their website. At checkout, they couldn’t provide an itemized receipt and we had to pay for those items without receiving them. It was an extra $8 USD. Front desk staff was unknowledgeable and unwilling to assist.
We asked for a late checkout when we checked in. We were told that 2pm was allowed for the late checkout. Then they called us three times before that to check out and housekeeping came twice. I was sick and wanted to wait to as close to our departure as possible so that I wasn’t sick on our journey. They seemed very annoyed with us for not leaving sooner, even after the agreed upon checkout time.
Food: the food is fine. Not memorable. I wouldn’t come here for a special occasion but it was decent. We ate at several places on the peninsula with a great view and way better food.
Location: this one is huge. The hotel is nice, not 5 stars, perhaps 4; however, the location is not great. Once you step off the property, you are continuously harassed by people on the street. There is a lot of road construction around the hotel at the time of this review and many Ubers cancelled our trips on us and we found out later from another driver it was because of construction. If you have a private driver, this shouldn’t be an issue. Do yourself a favor and if you truly want five stars, stay on the peninsula or near Coco Beach. That is where we will stay...
Read moreJohari rotana is one of best hotel in Tanzania.
I used to come this hotel a lot for chill .
These days , some government officers r living at hotel , for security issue , it is ok that hotel security staff to do car check , and me as hotel customer is willing to follow the rules for security purpose .
Am not getting u guys wrong , I live in Tanzania for 10 years , I went to Hayat a lot before ,since Johari rotana reopen again after corona time , I came here a lot , n I deeply knows the security guy is taking the responsibility for checking car especially when there is some important meeting in the hotel . And I do respect and cooperate with the security staff every time .
But it is just a car security check , how come the johari rotana hotel security staff attitude comes so bad n rude ? Am parking my car there at entrance for security check ,one security guy was not requesting me to open the door in a polite way,it is much more like he ordered me to do that , with impatient and disrespectful . Like a street gang boy ,u got that feeling ? This security guy did a lot unprofessional things during checking . I dissed that security staff why he did like this, then he was angry with me , alright , in the meanwhile , there is another guy walk straight to my car , he said he is the security manager here , I was expecting that this manager will do something different , at least he might ask way like sorry sir , May I know what happened here or something in a polite way , but instead of doing that , he is like , what r u doing here , why u r arguing with my staff ? Ha? Seriously? I was angry then I became peaceful, yes , the normal staff is behaving rude might be lack of experience, but even the manager behave like this , then suddenly I understand how this happened. So I decide not to argue with these guys , it is more like am casting pearls before swine.
If u Johari rotana hotel care about customer , then u guys need do something !
For more reference, just check ur cctv camera of car entrance of starting time 18:30 , 14th. May. 2024 , I was driving a Ford raptor , white color .
If there is more confusion , tell ur hotel Chinese management team Doris or Alex to contact with me .
The security staff who has bad Attitude is in the attachment .
Thank u for u good service n I am willing to see that Johari rotana is getting better...
Read moreMy friends and I were so excited that we made a reservation a week in advance to go to the brunch buffet held every Sunday at this place. When I actually got there, to my dismay, the place was so empty that reservations were not necessary at all. Actually, I am a person who really likes buffets. Because although I can't expect the quality of buffets in Tanzania that I eat in my home country, the fact that I can eat a variety of foods is very attractive to me. I was very satisfied with the entrance space, the food display, and the attitude of the employees. The seating arrangement and music volume were very appropriate. But none of those countless foods were satisfying to me. As someone who celebrates delicious food by taking pictures, this place really made me forget about it. I often had the Sunday brunch buffet at the Hyatt Regency hotel next door, so I tried it when I heard it was new, but to be honest, I was very disappointed. The quality of the singers was very poor and most of the food that was supposed to be warm was cold and did not have the original taste of the food. We, who should have been filled with various foods and curiosity for 2-3 hours, had to worry countless times about what on earth we should eat and whether the 145,000 shillings would be a waste. It was so bad that my friend told me that it would taste better if I went to the kitchen and cooked it and served it. I barely ate my food and gave an honest review to the waiter who paid the bill at the end. You still have a long way to go to beat the Hyatt Hotel. It's more expensive, but there's nothing to eat. Leaving these reviews and comments is not my one-sided complaint, but rather advice and advice given in the hope that they will do better. All my reviews are very realistic and through my reviews people only see the truth. I am very proud of that fact, so I am writing my review like this...
