Harbour View Suites — Hotel in Dar es-Salaam

Hemant was incredible! I messaged Harbour View Suites on WhatsApp and he instantly replied ensuring we had the best room and accommodation! He arranged our beautiful private pick up from our airport who was waiting for us outside the second we walked out of the airport ready for pick up with a big smile, Jefari dropped us off at the hotel helping with all of our luggage. He was also the one to drive us back to the airport after our stay completed. Hemant organized it all! Makamba checked us in at the hotel and wow is it upscale! The room is super spacious, with a gorgeous view looking out at the harbour! We saw so many cool and luxurious boats, and ships! It’s located in a perfect part of town if you want to walk around. It’s definitely full of people but that how the city is. The shower is very fancy, the entire hotel room with the shower room has privacy windows- meaning you can look outside but no one can see inside which is super cool! The bed was actually SUPER cozy, with real thick blankets and pillows, the mattress soft. The AC is strong and conveniently located on the wall mount. The balcony is big with more gorgeous views! The closet is big as well allowing us to store all of our items. The room also has a safe which we put all of our valuables in. We had a wonderful time here, enjoying the restaurant which was super accommodating to our dietary needs, my girlfriend is vegetarian and gluten free. The gym was incredible as well and actually very upscale. The pool is big and another big hit! Thank you for everything Hemant

My first impression was terrible. I booked the pickup service at the airport, wrote on the day of my arrival to confirm... and then, there was nobody at the airport. I had to wait for more than one hour. And when I could talk on the phone with the lady organising this, she said "welcome to Africa". This was unacceptable for two reasons: 1) I've visited many countries in Africa for work, even in Tanzania; this is the first time that this problem happened. 2) You cannot hide your mistakes saying that everybody is incompetent; this is so unprofessional.

The following day, the hotel manager told me that they would not charge me for the pickup service. This never happened and I was charged.

Besides that situation, I can say that this is a very good hotel. Very good breakfast, I had a huge room with a great view, and staff members were super friendly and nice. I had a great time with the friendliness of everybody at the restaurant. The location is also very convenient, downtown in Dar Es Salaam.

As a negative point, the service at the restaurant is very slow. During dinner time, it would take more than 30 minutes to be served my order, even when there were just 1 or 2 other tables. One day, around 4pm, I ordered a burger and it took about one hour to arrive!

So, hotel recommended... but be patient with your dinner, and do not book the pickup service at the airport. You can order an Uber and it...

The hotel is situated within the port and town which is so very convenient. One gets to watch street life and walk to a variety of cafes and Restaurants that serve a fusion of African, Indian and Arabic cuisine at your door step not to forget the increasing international fare which makes it an ideal location. My room was on one of the top floors, very spacious with a modern en suite , views from the large glass windows were so nostalgic to watch every day life in this historical city. The staff from the driver who picked us at the Airport to the lovely welcome at Reception , porters, cleaners were Impeccable, charming and friendly. The in- house restaurant serves a great breakfast, meals and snacks throughout the day and evening with a good variety of choices that accommodates every palate. Waiting staff are always smiling, polite and no request is too much. The hotel is managed with a keen eye on service, etiquette and decorum which allows the guests to feel they are cared for right from the start.
