Tai Huo San Zhuang — Restaurant in Dar es-Salaam

This restaurant is perhaps the best Chinese restaurant in Dar and possibly the only Cantonese (South China) one, too. We have come here many times and have never been disappointed with the quality and taste of the food.

They serve a special breakfast menu only on Sundays, which is great. Undoubtedly, it serves the best dumplings I've ever had in Dar. The fish rice porridge and chicken feet are delicious. I also had "fried milk," a very unique sweet dish, which was lovely. The Sunday breakfast is a highlight.

The regular menu is also quite extensive and delicious. They also have many vegetarian options. It is slightly pricier compared to some of the cheaper Chinese places in Mikocheni, but it is definitely worth it. The staff are also super friendly, and the owner lady is extremely sweet and always helps in selecting the right dish...

Absoloutely Outstanding.

Thoroughly enjoyed the food : had ordered lamb in hot pot, chicken with prawns and mushroom soups.

In fact we order a couple of extra dishes with the expectation that if maybe one or two of them turns out to be a disaster then the other ones will be good to go.

Very pleasantly surprised to find ALL the items were good !

In fact it was such a great relief to find authentic Chinese in the city center : we were not sure how it would be in the new avatar after the restaurant shifted and were half expecting some kind of Indian or Pakistani Chinese !

Thank God it still us the authentic stuff and...

The proprietor (asian woman) is the only person allowed to take orders and process payments which really slows everything down. There seems to be a culture of fear among all the young female staff members as we witnessed the proprietor chew them out on multiple occasions.

The food was OK, we had noodles and soups that were authentic but rather bland. IMO a very average Chinese restaurant.
