Hogfather BBQ — Restaurant in Chalong

Visited with my girlfriend. We came in and sat down at a table, thinking someone would bring a menu. Staff saw us but didn't come to our table. Eventually I went to the bar to ask; "do you maybe have a menu for us?" "Here", was the reply, as she pointed at a picture of their menu stuck on their bar.

Apparently you're supposed to order and pay straight away at the bar. Which is fine in itself, but it wasn't exactly clear and no one bothered to welcome or inform us.

I then asked to order the BBQ sampler platter. "Can't do sampler platter, no ribs" she said in an annoyed tone. Not really a customer friendly way of speaking to someone. I got a very "I'm done with this job" vibe from the cashier. She could also have simply still offered the sampler platter, but without the ribs at a reduced price. Or mention when there'd be ribs again. Instead; nothing.

Ok, so in the end we went with a burger and pulled pork instead. It tasted fine, nothing out of the ordinary, but it was extremely greasy. Both my burger and the fries that came with it were dripping with grease, and so was my gf's pulled pork. We would have liked to give their ribs a try on another day, but the usual friendly Thai atmosphere wasn't present here. We won't...

I would like to share a negative experience of visiting a restaurant that unfortunately does not comply with the specified schedule of operation. Several times I tried to visit it during the specified hours, but each time it was closed.

Last time, I came at 8:00 pm, confident that I would be able to try delicious food and craft beer on tap, which I liked the last time. However, they put a "closed" sign in front of me, and I had to look for another place for dinner.

In addition, I want to note that last time I ordered brisket, but it turned out to be very dry and did not meet my expectations.

I am disappointed that the restaurant does not comply with its schedule, which causes inconvenience to visitors, as well as the fact that the dishes on their menu may not be as tasty as they claim. Overall, I would not recommend...

Update. May 19 2023. Disappointed. After a long visit returned tonight for another fantastic dinner. Ordered the sampler, it was ok. The fabulous beer selection is now Thai draft beer only. Had a Leo out of desperation, paid the price on the trip home. Counter service only, tables cleared when guests leave. Disappointed is really an under statement.

Fantastic!! I tried the low and slow sampler and was blown away! Delicious is a understatement! Washed down with a cold Amercan import beer.

2 Days later! I was so impressed with the barbecue that two days later I brought some friends and family for a return feast.
