Ban Rai Steak House — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

The 1 star rating is for the substandard portion size they now serve. I used to really enjoy ordering the chicken salad and a soup here. Huge salad topped with a very generous portion of sliced grilled chicken. (Not anymore. See edit below.) Cost 120. There are several soups to choose from (corn chowder is my favorite) each comes with 2 pieces of garlic bread costs 60. Great food, great prices, great place.....(Not anymore.)

Edit 9-8-24. Since posting the original review I've been back several times and noticed the amount of chicken drastically deceased (50% at least.) After at least a year I came back today with my GF. I've included a pic of the the new serving sizes...

The steaks were ok. The sirloin was cooked very differently, even though we ordered all of them the same (one was very rare, the other medium rare). The T-bone steaks were very thin (almost like minute steak) so cooking then medium rare was hard. Serving them on a sizzling plate also meant they continued cooking at the table, which isn't great and meant they were not really rested at all.

Service was great, smoothies were excellent, and we were able to bring our own wine without any corkage, which was nice. The baked potatoes were soft and delicious, and overall we had a nice meal,...

Presentation was good, staff semi attentive. The flavor of the steak was odd. The t-bone came with no crust. The sirloin in the other hand had a crust going on since the steak was thick enough. Tbone was maybe less than 1/2 inch in thickness.

The tomato and the mushrooms soup weee ok. The garlic bread was good.

The service is quick. It took fast time to bring the food. Happy about that. Just that the flavor was really unappealing to my taste and my family.
