I was so excited when I saw a sushi restaurant named after the great Miyamoto Mushashi. Unfortunately the name is as far as my excitement went with this place.
The taste of the food, was average. Not wonderful, and not bad. Nothing memorable from it.
The big trouble comes with the service and the attitude of the staff. My girlfriend told the waitress very clearly in Thai that I am extremely allergic to cucumbers. (Actually all gourds) She made it very clear that none of our food can have cucumbers in it or near it.
The food came with cucumbers in it. So we did what any normal person would do when they ordered something and it was wrong. We sent it back, and explained AGAIN to the waitress that I was allergic to cucumber and cannot eat it.
She took it to the chef and his response was, "Just take it out of the food. They won't know."
He said it in Thai and my girlfriend heard him very clearly. This was extremely frustrating because we just wanted to have a nice dinner. The disappointment was immeasureable and my day was ruined.
Not to mention the bill came and they left an item off of it. We could have easily not told the staff because they barely seemed to know where their head was much less what the customers wanted or ordered. However, we did the right thing and told them they missed our item on the bill.
If I were the owner, I'd fire the chef immediately. Replace all the wait staff and get a new manager. The shift manager was useless. This place could be really good with the proper management. How it is now, it will slowly bleed out as more and more people have experiences...
Read moreGreat little place. I can see why it has multiple awards on the wall, simple, high quality, consistent (based on reviews) and great music for the perfect vibe whether with friends, family or flying solo! I had the Mexican roll, and while the shrimp tempura was over cooked IMO, I can see how others would love the crunch it presented. I think the server was new so thus that rating. I did have the house salad and I was rather impressed, it was light, fun and just the ever bit sweet making it refreshing in this warmer climate.
Update a year later - this place has gotten even better! New and expanded menu offerings, a whole menu just for vegetarians too. Same great vibe, the service has improved and I'm assuming it was the owners dog who paid me a sweet visit while he came in from the rain for a...
Read moreGreat sushi restaurant I give it a 5 as it is the best sushi we have tried in chiang mai in the past 6 years, only last week we were at AI sushi and it was pretty disappointing. Finding this place tonight gave us the confidence to eat there as the menu looked really professional showing well presented food.
We entered and ordered a variety of sushi and the garlic rice just to try and we loved everything especially the crispy salmon sushi and the garlic rice was fantastic non greasy and tasty.
Staff were friendly and welcoming and the prices are reasonable for the quality you get.
Recommendation If in chiang mai and love sushi, then give it a go, it's the best your...
