Wat Duang Di — Attraction in Chiang Mai Province

Wat Duang Dee (Thai: วัดดวงดี), or Temple of Good Luck, was founded in the early 16th century. In 1761 (B.E. 2304), a monk of Wat Duang Dee became ruler of Chiang Mai. In 1819 (B.E. 2362), King Thammalangka, the second ruling prince of Chiang Mai, renovated the monastery and held a dedication celebration. The wat has a monastic library (Ho Trai) dating from 1829 (B.E. 2372) with beautiful gilded wood carvings. There is a tree with golden leaves for good luck and nice statues of buddhas...

The temple is very close to the center of the old town. It is small but beautiful, especially the building holding Buddhist scripture. Nearby Lanna Architecture center also warrant s a visit.
