We read the good reviews and wanted to try the food. It was a big surprise and a bad one. First we waited a long time to order drinks. There were only a few other customers. We had to ask more than once to order. We could not order mushroom sauce for the schnitzel to make it a jaegerschnitzel. And after some talking it was possible but the extra price for the sauce was way too high. We waited more than 1 hour for the food. Of 3 foods ordered 1 food was the wrong dish and 1 food had the wrong side dish. It was a long discussion between a thai woman and the waitress about the wrong food and the waitress didn't understand at first. She made an unprofessional argument that she had to pay wrong food from her salary. The wrong side dish on the other dish wash corrected but the potatoes weren't cooked properly. No reaction to the complaint here. The cordon blue had a bad taste. The schnitzel was ok but not good. And the sausage had only a little taste. There was a big mismatch between price and quality. The same moment my friend finished his food the waitress took away the plate. That was upsetting. Also she bothered us by showing the foods for the other guests many times.
Won't go here again. Sorry. Even if put kindly there is no place for a...
Read moreThis is the kind of place where we say ‘why don’t we come her more often?’ every time we eat here. The server and owner remembered us and welcomed us warmly even though we had not been in for some time. The whole place makes you feel welcome. The decor is pretty busy and will not be to everyone’s taste, but the place is immaculate and lit in warm tone. And that is even before the food came out. What a treat. Home style German food done right. Many of the items are made in house (rolls, sauerkraut, salad dressings, etc. etc) and the food is very fresh. The boiled pork knuckle is amongst the best we have have in Asia. Great service, great food. I would give Sagsuma 6 stars if it were possible. Make sure to call ahead to make sure they can seat you as they only...
Read moreIt's my favourite restaurant in Chiang Mai (we used to live in Chiang Mai for three years). The food is the best and you get great value for money. There are Western and Thai dishes; both are amazing. Our favourites are the ceaser salad, roast pork, wiener schnitzel, and cordon blue but also the Thai deserts. I brought my parents, who live very close to the German border and eat there a lot, here too, and my dad called it the best schnitzel he ever had. The over the top German decoration is the icing on the cake. The owner, who is the cook, is the loveliest person on the planet. When you eat her European food, you will swear there is a German chef behind the stove, but she is Thai and picked up her trades while travelling. First class food experience. We miss...
