Tacorrito — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

I can see the potential in this place, but unfortunately my experience was a bit disappointing. The tacos arrived cold and soggy. Even after removing some of the toppings, the tacos were still soggy, drippy and freezing cold. The meat itself wasn’t properly heated and the flavor was overwhelmed by the heavy use of sauces. The queso also felt like it had just come out of the fridge—completely cold and unpleasant to eat.

My girlfriend had a better experience with her burrito than I did with the tacos. And I want to emphasize that the staff were extremely kind and clearly working hard. -소프트 타코를 구워서 딱딱하게 구워서 펴서 주면... 먹으려고 접는 순간 부서진다. -살사에 실란초 안들가 있다...여긴 싼데 왜? -프레서가 없어서 브리또를 후라이펜에 굽는다...부풀어서 깨져요. -후드도 없는 조리장에서 고기 굽는다... 냄새 어쩌라고...ㅠㅠ -들어오면서 먹는내내 일하는 애들은 앉아서 핸드폰 본다. 손님 우리 둘뿐인데... 쪽 소리질러서 불어야 하나? -체다치즈 디핑이 없어서 우유에 아메리칸치즈 녹여서 치즈 디핑이라고 준다. 없으면 없다하지...

한번이라도 제대로 된 멕시코 음식 먹어봤으면 이 재료로 이러면 안되는거 아닌가 싶다. 이게 뭐 대단한 음식이라고...

Thanks for getting back to me. I'm really sorry if my review came off as harsh—that wasn't my goal at all! I'm actually a fellow restaurant person; I'm from Korea, but I've lived in US for over 30 years and have worked in and even owned a few places myself. I'm currently in Chiang Mai to help a restaurant with their menu and sauces, so I know how much work it is.

Honestly, I liked your place a lot. The layout, colors, and concept are all really cool. If I thought it was hopeless, I wouldn't have bothered making a list of things to work on.

Just to be clear on a few of my points:

Tortillas: You're right, you don't need a press. I just thought since they were a bit thick and soft, a press could save you time and make them thinner and chewier, not hard and dry like they can get in a pan.

Nachos and Salsa: Your nachos were perfect, which is why the strange cheese dip and the salsa that wasn't salty at all stood out to me.

Staff: I get that people have different styles, but both employees were on their phones the whole time and were pretty unhelpful.

Food: I wasn't criticizing your recipe. The food just kept breaking when I tried to fold it. Maybe serving it with a fork and knife would make it easier to eat, like a pizza.

Ventilation: This is an easy fix. A simple wall fan on top of the main window when you're cooking would push all the heat and smoke right out.

Anyway, it's totally up to you what you do with this advice. I just hope the restaurant...

How does this place have great reviews? It’s borderline inedible. The black beans were not fully cooked. The staff showed me all three meats and only the chicken didn’t look like a solid fat glop. The pork looked disgusting. The chicken thighs came with all the chicken skin. Perhaps I am looking for Chipotle in Thailand and I’m being a bit harsh but I suggest the management watch and read some Chipotle recipes as the rest of the shop is quite nice (staff decor etc).
