La Gatta Pizzeria & Wine Bar — Restaurant in Chiang Rai Province

I took me some days before I’m able to write this review. The reason is the food I’ve had in this restaurant…: Last Sunday (June 10, 2022) I had food twice in this restaurant. Lunch and dinner. As I had no other food that day I am sure without a doubt, that I got a food-poisoning from my dinner. I had a Greek salad for lunch- and, as it was a pesto-dressing, it’s very unlikely to have been contaminated. My dinner was „Fettuccine with Australian wagyu Bolognese and garlic bread“.

My first impression was just disappointment: 1: Though the bolognese was supposed to being served „With garlic bread“ it was just one small slice of bread (which was tasty). It seems that the cook doesn’t like to use to any herbs. That’s especially strange if one is offering garlic bread. One should add a little garlic to the sauce as well, otherwise it will have no taste, compared with the bread…

The Greek salad I’ve had for lunch seemed to be without any herbs as well. Just the pesto & oil didn’t give it any taste…

The bolognese -sauce had no taste at all. I tried to give some taste by adding salt and pepper to it. I was hungry, so I ate it. But as a food lover I knew already that I wouldn’t visit this place again. I didn’t know then what was yet to come… Just a minute after I had payed and left the place I felt some rumble in my stomach. To make it short: I was either kneeling or sitting in my bathroom till 4 am. I had an awful time - and the next day was ruined as well.

I recommend the shop to throw away all of their chopped meats. I’m not sure it was salmonella, but whatever it was, it caused problems very quickly. The reasons can be a bad cooling chain; a broken fridge or just a sloppy way of “saving” old meats . The restaurant had only one or two customers, when I was there. This place ruined my holidays. And it’s impossible that my problems occurred because of any other food.

Do better. Serve clean, healthy and tasty food. Not the opposite…

To come to an end: The waitress was very friendly. The house-wine was served ice-cold (I had red wine…), but it was a good taste.

The place looks nice and has great potential, if the food will be prepared well… But like this: No…- At least don’t eat...

In terms of the overall experience of having dinner, I am pretty high maintenance and I will not eat just anywhere.

I have eaten at La Gatta on 4 occasions over the last 10 days and have found the selection and quality of the food to be excellent. I have eaten at all the 5 star rated restaurants in Chiang Rai and, as you may deduce from my repeated visits, I find that La Gatta is one of the best overall.

I made a point of trying a variety of dishes from the menu and have been delighted on each occasion. I have been unable to pull myself away from the house red wine, which has gone beautifully with each meal I have enjoyed, so I can't report on the white wine.

I have tried only one of the desserts and I was thrilled to experience for the first time, the joy of dipping scoops of iced cream into warm liquid chocolate!

The calm, relaxed ambiance of the restaurant is a welcome oasis away from the busy Main Street of Chiang Rai.

I am from the UK and I would describe this restaurant as mid-range but the prices are astonishingly low; you would never find food and service of this quality in the United Kingdom at...

I ate here 2 days ago and I am sitting here now again. I will decide how many stars after I had my pizza. I literally checked reviews here on google before ordering pizza, as I know it can be hit and miss, being an italian. I found mixed reviews on pizza but I decided to give it a go anyway. Two days ago I had bruschetta, carbonara with one tiny piece of garlic bread (two would have been better) and draught Singha. Singha was very enjoyable. Waitresses very corteous and friendly. Bruschetta was fine. Carbonara was heavy and with chopped cubes of bacon. The quality of the menu editing made me think this place has some italians working there, but that carbonara looked good but wasn't up to standards I am afraid. The chopped bacon was too large pieces, it had to be chewed and wasn't edible for me. The cream was better but rather heavy. Not good I am afraid. Tonight pizza napoletana... it will hopefully improve. The setting is nice. The beer is nice. Service is excellent. My pasta not good... pizza... just arrived and it's quite nice, so we go from 2.5 to 3.5 stars, let's make it 4 because waiters are very professional...
