We came here by chance after Saturday vigil mass at St. Joseph’s in Bang Tao. The glowing Google reviews lured us to Lido’s Cabana and, honestly, we’d have to agree with all the other 5 star recommendations.
We had the BEST THAI food we’ve ever had—full stop—in Phuket, Bangkok or Vancouver where we’re originally from. The panang curry was creamy and SO flavourful, not to mention beautifully presented in a shell-like dish. The green curry with prawns was just as amazing and a surprising treat was the stir-fried morning glory dish. My husband was saying he would gladly have just rice and the morning glory sauce morning, noon and night if he could.
The mango smoothie I ordered was bright and fresh and perfectly sweet. And the mango sorbet my brother chose for dessert had fresh mango chunks and watermelon cubes that made it even more refreshing.
It was dark but we could hear the waves crashing right outside the cabana’s outdoor seating area. Can’t wait to visit again during the daytime and plan to eat at Lido’s every time we return to Phuket. It’s worth the drive (which is a bit tricky, even for Grab drivers who need to snake through some narrow corridors) so don’t miss an opportunity to check out Lido’s. They have other items as well (Japanese, Western fare) but we wanted good Thai food and were blown away that a quiet cabana in Bang Tao has some of the best Thai...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant for an early evening supper on the back of the predominantly positive reviews. This, unfortunately, was probably our worst eating experience of our usual tour. We ordered simple, standard Thai main courses. My green curry arrived in reasonable time, however the rest of my dinner didn't arrive until the green curry was finished. Worst still, my wife's meal hadn't arrived 15 minutes after I had finished my partial main course. At this point we cancelled the remaining order. Whilst this epitomised the quality of the service given, the most disappointing element was that the cutlery was provided in sealed plastic film. There is too much plastic on this planet. Why was this even remotely necessary? Now, it is possible that our experience was unusual for this restaurant, and they also apologised sincerely. The choice is yours. If, however you do visit, can you please feedback that they have stopped providing cutlery within sealed...
Read moreWe ate as a group of 6. We had shrimp cakes, shrimp satay and 2 of our group have been up all night with severe vomiting and diarrhoea and pain. They have had a whole day and night and no better. Some serious hygiene issues to affect 2 healthy people this way. I seriously hope this doesn't stop our return flight to the UK in less that 24 hours or I will be seriously asking questions about how this happened. This was our only meal of the day, nothing else could have done this so quickly and...
