MAYA BEACH CLUB PHUKET — Restaurant in Choeng Thale

I was really excited to go to this beach club and have the pizza. I made a reservation online for sunset and met my date there. She arrived early and she showed them the reservation that specifically said no deposit or minimum spend. The waitress argued with her and put her at a different table and when I arrived I asked what happened because I could tell she was upset so I asked the waitress why she was treating us so poorly and she told me we need a deposit of 5000 thb. I explained to her that I made a reservation online and no deposit was needed . The waitress insisted that I pay 5000 thb to sit at the table so I spoke to the manager and she confirmed with me that indeed did not require a deposit but I could only keep the table until 9pm unless i was going to spend more then 5000 thb. I told her we would stay until 9pm and if we like it we will stay longer and spend more . The food was very bad we couldn’t even finish it. The service was terrible and when we did get served it was very rude. We paid our bill and left at 8pm ish because it was so boring. Also I should mention the restaurant was almost completely empty. I’m familiar with clubs and restaurants that have a second service after dinner for bottle and table service and they need a certain amount to keep the table but telling people at 5:30 they have to leave at 9 pm or pay 5000 thb is not the way to do this. I don’t drink alcohol I would still gladly buy a bottle for the table if the club was packed or at least something was going on but it was empty and people were only leaving. There’s 4 other beach clubs very close by so I recommend going to those .

Pizza was pretty good but I would never go there again . If you noticed on my bill they didn’t even give the traditional 10% service charge to the waitress I was expected to tip the waitress after she made me look like I couldn’t afford the table and was rude to my date . The entire time they were rude and the place was empty lol. This is a instagram tourist trap and I got fooled and I suspect that’s why they make you pay first because no one wants to come back after that and the only reason to charge in advance is if they know they’re selling garbage. 5000 thb is approx 200 dollars Canadian so I don’t really mind spending 200$ for dinner at a restaurant that’s giving a good vibe or good food but this place had neither and I was trying to be friendly after the conflict but they clearly just wanted me to...

This place is pleasing in each sense. Pricy - but it’s worth it if you look for great service , for well cooked food and a well thought ambiance. Also a plus is the availability of towels to be rented upon request ( it’s 200 bath per person to rent for the day ) - it makes the whole going to the beach much more relaxing . The waiting staff is trained to deliver high standards of customer service and they are fast in delivering your order. We tried different dishes as were all really tasty. The sushi was probably a bit sea smelly - but it could be because of the heat and the fact that it makes the raw fish smell quite fast. The Italian food is pretty good, especially the pizza - The dough is easy to digest ( if you know you know ) and they use a stone Owen ( which gives that extra taste to it ) . Cocktails are pretty good too - perfect balance between the alcohol , the mixers and the juices . We tried their cold press juices which were intense. Super flavorful and rich ( giving a sense of fullness to the stomach ) Still recommended though ! Getting inDrive to come and pick you from there is impossible , but they will drop you without any problem . The pool is perfection - the water is nice , the trees give the perfect amount of shade and size is good to relax without having people swimming around you. only thing which is not looked after is that they allows kids to run around the pool, dive and splash water while jumping into the pool ( even though there is a sign saying ‘no kids under 14 and no diving’ ). 💵 Average bill in 2 people , spending all day at the club , eating , drinking and renting the towels is...

Our last night in bang tao.

We decided to have dinner at Maya and.... Wow what an experience. Walking through the red lighted entrance into an oasis. Quickly given a great table overlooking the ocean.

Our waitress kwanita very quickly sat us down and got us our electronic menus. Kwanita gave us some time to soak in the atmosphere and decide our choices.

I'm a picky eater and asked for the lamb shank massaman curry to be served without onions. My partner had the Pad Thai and we went for a glass of wine and some water to drink.

A few minutes later our drinks appeared which were delicious.

After about 15 mins our food arrived and we were absolutely gobsmacked by the portion size and presentation.

If I could give 6 stars for the lamb shank massaman curry I would it was absolutely out of this world. My partners Pad Thai was the best she had while we have been in Thailand. I honestly cannot rate the food highly enough.

We were also treated to what I can only describe as a mind blowing fire show.

Overall the food was 5/5 the wine was 5/5 the atmosphere was 5/5 the entertainment was 5/5 and above all the warmth and attentiveness from our waitress kwanita was 6/5
