Piak's Kitchen — Restaurant in Choeng Thale

We stayed in the Sunwing hotel for a week and tried this restaurant everyday for breakfast and twice for lunch and dinner. Here is my review:

Breakfast Buffet:

• Quality: The buffet breakfast is acceptable with a good variety of options. While it’s not on the level of a five-star breakfast buffet, it’s included with the room, making it great value for what you get.

• Menu Options: The buffet offers a range of choices, including an omelette station, a variety of fruits, coffee, juices, and multiple options catering to both kids and adults. There are also a few local Thai dishes alongside international fare. • Ambiance: The breakfast area has a lovely sea view, adding to the overall experience.

Lunch & Dinner:

• International Food: The international options, unfortunately, fall below average. We tried a few items like steak and pizza, and they were underwhelming. I wouldn’t recommend sticking to the international menu here. • Thai Food: The Thai food is better than the international options but still only average. The flavours are decent, but there’s nothing exceptional or memorable about the dishes.

Price vs. Quality: When compared to the price, the food quality doesn’t quite match up. There are several restaurants near the hotel that offer much better quality for the same price. Even within the hotel, there’s another restaurant that might be worth trying as an alternative.

Service: The service, on the other hand, is excellent. The staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure that you have everything you need. Their efforts certainly elevate the experience, and I’d rate the service at a five-star level.

Overall Recommendation: While the service and breakfast buffet are commendable, I would recommend exploring other dining options nearby for lunch and dinner. There are better quality restaurants at similar prices just outside the hotel, and even within the hotel, you can opt for the other restaurant for a potentially...

Our family had 1/2 a lunch here. As their hotel guests, we thought it would be most convenient to eat at this pool side restaurant so that we could continue swimming after lunch. We were allowed to enter the restaurant and ordered the food.

However half way enjoying our lunch, Waiter Chang came told us that we wet their floor and asked us to go back and get changed. He mentioned he was worried about other guests falling down due to the “slippery floor” but the entire time that we were there no one came to mop the floor. He was more concerned about asking us to get changed.

We decided to takeaway the food instead to eat it in our room. A waitress helped us to pack two of our dishes. However, when we asked for an additional box for our kid, she just threw the takeaway box for us expecting us to pack the food ourselves.

Nonetheless, within two hours of the incident, Mr Markus (guest relation manager) came to talk us and offered his apologies. He agreed that the restaurant staff could have handled the incident more professionally. He did not waive the lunch bill but instead offered to provide free airport transfer for us and attended to our other needs in the room (such as extra comforters for the kids).

We are hence revising our rating from 1 star to 4 star due to Markus’ efforts in making us feel welcomed...

Decent food. No surprise. What you see that you get.starter i had Bruschetta with creamy mushroom sauce is a winner! Main was pizza with spinach and feta cheese, thin cross and definitely fresh dough used ok dish. Desert i had Affagato, is always winner, one little remark “suggestion” to the chef here: please use single shot espresso for affagato. The coffee was next to it bit to much and was like americano or watery. Overall: Good standard and fresh products. Big well done for service team as well . They are always there when you need them. ( is not it funny , when you need service or help staff always disappears, but opposite when you do not need them). But here big well done!
