We had a great meal at Pooh and Friends restaurant. We arrived around 745, and were warmly greeted and seated. We were given menus and then given time to look them over. The gracious waitress then took our order. We had the shrimp cakes as an appetizer, Tom Kha Gai soup, the Black Pepper seafood platter, a phanang curry with chicken, and the mango sticky rice. And a Singapore Sling (wow it was good!). (We definitely ordered too much food, but they were very kind and boxed the leftovers in a take home container). The food was brought out in logical order (ie, not all at once). The flavors were fantastic, and the food was very filling.
Our favorites were the Tom Kha Gai, the Singapore Sling, and the phanang curry chicken. All the food was delicious. And the price was fantastic (a bargain compared to a similar experience in the US).
After dinner, the waitress chatted with us for a few minutes and was exceptionally kind. She then informed us that the owner was going to give us a lift back to our hotel. Amazing, and he was very kind. He informed us on recommended ways to reheat the leftovers we had (so as not ruin the flavors). We really appreciated such warm hospitality. When we make it back to Phuket, we will definitely be back. Until then, I highly recommend Pooh and Friends restaurant.
One more note, we walked to the restaurant from our hotel. It took about 20 minutes and we began to wonder if our maps app had led us astray. The restaurant is located close to a residential area, so be patient while navigating the twisting and turning road to get there. The location I got from Google Maps was correct as...
Read moreAfter reading reviews on Google about the authenticity and taste of this local Thai resteraunt we decided to take a Tuk-Tuk from our hotel to try ourselves. We were not disappointed.
For starters we had the chicken satay & spring rolls. They were delicious. The satay sauce was delicious and the chicken was cooked to perfection. The spring rolls were delicious, light and crunchy.
For mains we opted for the pineapple rice and sweet and sour chicken. The pineapple rice came with shrimp and egg and of course came inside a pineapple. The sweet and sour sauce went very well with the pineapple rice
After eating this we couldn't help but try another one of the specials so we went for the Massaman. It was a creamy coconut and potato curry with a juicy chicken thigh that melted off the bone. This was so good!
For drinks we had margaritas and they were amazing, we had heard that Pooh used to own/work in a bar so the cocktails were delicious.
As an experience Pooh was so friendly, he sat down to chat with us talk about himself, Thailand, gave us recommendations of what to see and asked us about where we were from. He even often to give us a free ride back to our hotel after food and to pay later if we didn't have enough and we wanted to order more food!
We want to go back already, I would recommend trying all the specials if you get the opportunity for a true Thai experience and the price was more than reasonable!
Thank you for the memories and...
Read moreMy friends and I came to Pooh and Friends twice during our stay in Phuket, and we absolutely loved it! The food tastes home-cooked, full of flavour, and made with care. The deep-fried fish with garlic and pepper and the pad kra pao beef were our favourites — both were perfectly cooked and delicious.
