Da Babbo - Dine & Wine like at home — Restaurant in Choeng Thale

I am soo happy I found this wonderful restaurant. I am vegan so it has not been easy to find a great variety. I saw a few vegetarian options on the menu and just asked if they can remove the cheese for me. The pasta dish was cooked perfectly and then the wonderful owner himself, who is an Italian, came to check if all is well with the food and encouraged me to let me know if I fancy anything else as they can alter most dishes to be vegan. We had a great chat about many things and I walked out feeling so grateful that people like this exist, people who are so passionate about food and life. Absolutely incredible! After 2 weeks of trying the typical Thai food, me and my friends just wanted to eat proper italian food like at home, but, spoiler: we got even better.

The owner is super cool, a very interesting man with passion for so many things, first: cooking. He sit and engaged with us in a very friendly way, giving also advices about Thailand.

The food was outstanding, we tried many dishes and they all were perfect! Huge list of wine too!

We also came back a second time, so don’t esitate, have a nice dinner in this...

We went to the restaurant based on the high reviews. The reviews however seem to have been written by the friends and family. The food was mediocre at best: pasta was overcooked, and the bolognese sauce had no tomato base in it. Spicy Italian sausage Salsiccia was very dry and small. Portions were very small in general. Cocktails were so-so, (really nothing to write home about) but not cheap. It was our first and last time...
