The Mexican — Restaurant in Choeng Thale

Just a while ago i and my wife ate here. Had been here once before. Then i had ordered a chicken burger. Today we ordered a veggie burrito, nachos and a fish taco. The chicken burger was just a boiled and totally bland chicken breast inside a bun. It was a total waste of time and money. Only the fries that came with the burger were palatable. I had expected the burrito to be served with rice, shredded lettuce & cheese, refried beans, sour cream and tomato salsa on the side. Lo and behold, all i got was a burrito stuffed with rice, some veggies and black beans. Nothing on the side. If those black beans were what this joint calls refried beans then this is nothing but a con job, a lie. The menu clearly states that the burrito comes with the aforementioned items. Also, a burrito never comes wrapped in paper. This was just a dismal wrap posing as a burtito. I am sure these guys have no idea what a burrito is or what refried beans are. That said, only the nachos were ok. I have lived for more than a year in Phoenix, Arizona and have had enough Mex or TexMex food to know what is authentic enough. Regarding the service, maybe it's nice for farangs but as i am Asian and my wife is Thai, there wasn't even a semblance of a hello or a smile from the waitress. Perhaps after downing a few of their drinks one would not mind saying the "service" is "superb". I guess a lot of people posting nice comments here have never really experienced a lot many real Mex or Tex Mex restaurants in theit lives. I have never been to Mamacita's but i have heard it has excellent Mex. It is only a stone's throw away and anyone would be a chump to not go there for a better Mex cuisine experience. And if it's a genuine burrito you want, just go to nearby Villa Market and buy some Amy's or Tina's frozen burritos. Never mind if you don't have a microwave oven... just take them out of their wrappers and put them in a plate and leave them out in the Phuket sunshine for an hour or two ... you won't be...

My friend and I came here to have taco Tuesdays!

It was suggested by another friend of his, and we sat there and had quite a few margaritas and beers, and we ordered a tacos!

🌮 Fish, tacos, beef, tacos, chicken taco, and of course the chilli con carne 🌮 tacos! The tacos were quite tasty. I really enjoyed the Seabass taco as well as the Mexican chicken which was shredded chicken with spices in it. The only thing I was disappointed is that they didn’t have Thai 🌶️ because I really like my food spicy so I asked them but they didn’t have it. They had the habanero Tabasco, which was really not spicy at all but nonetheless the tacos 🌮 are quite enjoyable.!

They were on special today as it was Tuesday I found them to be a very good size. I could only eat about two but the gentleman had three each!!

I really enjoyed The live singer there were two of them, particularly the one that was singing and belting out Bryan Adams tunes

I really enjoyed the atmosphere sitting outside. Also, the staff were super friendly and quite attentive last night. It wasn’t many people last night, but they were quite helpful!

My partner & myself went on Saturday night for the Salsa music. Although it wasn't salsa the music was quite good. Shame that all was good. Ordered water & frozen mango margarita. Regular frozen came, tasted OK. We were never asked for about any other drinks. He order a taco rack, they didn't have any chicken. When they came he then got an extra taco. They were filled well, but not much seasoning. The salsa bar helped. After asking about my pork cartanitas, the manager came over then went to check, reported back that just a bit longer. Question, chips & salsa served when tacos arrived. I finally gave up & went to the bar for a drink, 4 people there, they repeated order back to me then stood looking at me. I asked if they can make the drink all shock their heads no. I just said forget it & walked back to the table. Asked for the bill. Told waitress to take off the pork carnival, she left & manager came over asked what the problem was, I explained I never received my meal can't get a drink. She left then came back & explained the waitress thought I had cancelled the order, she had a margarita sent over. It was ice & pure lime juice. Disgusting and even charges for it. 1,400 something bhat to then come home to have a sandwich. Such poor service and not taking responsibility for staff mistakes or even a complementary drink for no dinner. Avoid...
