My initial thought on this accommodation business is in some ways positive. If it is viewed purely as a 'hostel' with an associated coffee shop, then it definitely has attributes (and I'll come back to those later). But if taken at face value on the basis of its tariff cost and amenities, both real and indicated, then there are several problems with it. The first is the way the premises is represented on the Trip com platform. Photographs of the double bedroom include one of a bathroom. The attached text description and its context makes the plain implication that the room has an ensuite bathroom, which it does not. If little scrutiny is applied when reading the description, this fact will escape the readers attention. Anyone looking to make a reservation quickly can easily be misled (inadvertently?) into believing that this is a 'hotel' style room. Many hostels do offer rooms with ensuite bathrooms after all. The bathroom is communal and is inconveniently located on the ground floor. Rooms are above this.A second related criticism is the room size description - 18 m sq is quoted. The room has dimensions of 3 x 3.5 m. That is, about 10 m sq ! Although late February is still peak season in Phuket, it has to be said that the room tariff of almost $60 AUD per night is exorbitant. It may be considered acceptable for a 18 m sq hotel style room, given the circumstances, but a room of this kind at this particular locality ought to be offered at a lower price. Having said this, I concede that the reservation was made late and in haste. Now onto the good things. The 10 m sq double bed room has old but high quality wooden furniture which serves its purpose well. The air conditioning is responsive and strong There is a large kitchen next to the bathroom/wash basin (trough). It's equipped with a large fridge, sink, cutlery etc as well as a coffee maker ( + ground coffee). A delicious banana cake was offered to guests. Clothes can be washed and dried via a coin operated machine. Other attributes include the woman owner/ manager who has a professional approach and an attitude very well suited to the hospitalality jndustry. The coffee shop also makes decent coffees and ham n...

Read moreI had a fantastic experience at Niece Hostel in Thailand. From the very beginning, my interaction with Eve was exceptional. She was prompt in her responses and made the booking process incredibly easy.
Upon arrival, Eve warmly greeted me and was extremely knowledgeable, answering every question I had, whether it was about local dining options, renting a scooter, or finding the best beaches.
The on-site coffee was outstanding, attracting even those from outside the hostel.
I booked a single room, and I must say, the bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a peaceful night's sleep.
A highlight of my stay was Sunday, the adorable little dog who greeted me daily. The guests couldn't get enough of her.
Additionally, the convenience of having a 7 Eleven just 20 meters away made it easy for any last-minute needs. For more extensive shopping, a large and well-stocked supermarket is nearby. Plus, there are delightful little cafes in the vicinity of Boat Avenue, adding to the overall charm of the hostel's location.
The hosts went above and beyond to fulfill every request, making my stay memorable. I'll definitely be returning to Niece Hostel in the future. Highly...
