Blue Manao — Restaurant in Kamala

Blue manao was a joy. We came in during the off peak hours(~3pm) and had almost the entire place to ourselves.

We ordered the fried fish with 3 sauce, fried squid, rice, chicken pad Thai, sweet and sour chicken, fried ice cream and some milkshakes.

The fried fish was well seasoned and bathed in an amazing sauce. The parts of the fish were also cut up for us to eat easily.

The fried squid was so soft and tender. I didn't know fried squid could be like that. Not too chewy and the fry was light tasty!

The chicken pad Thai was really good but no chilli flakes.

The milkshakes were a good portion. It reminded us of the walls cup ice creams(probably because they were using walls ice cream). Vanilla had a little weird after taste but chocolate was really good.

The sweet and sour chicken was really good too although its not a fried chicken it the sauce it's sliced meat.

First of all I'd like to say. I probably had too high of hopes because of the great reviews I had read on the restaurant. That being said we arrived at the restaurant and told they were too busy to seat us. No big deal there are other places to eat. We made reservations for the next day and ate elsewhere that night. We showed up the next day, ordered our food and did a little people watching. The food arrived and looked super nice. Food was very bland and unimpressive. We have found that to be the case for most of the restaurants in the area. Most likely due to them catering to the northern European taste. We had an absolutely fantastic experience at this Thai restaurant! The food was exceptional — we tried Tom Yam, papaya salad, green curry, various dishes with chicken and shrimp, and of course, mango sticky rice. Every single dish was, by far, the best we had during our entire vacation.

The spice level was asked in advance and was spot on every time — perfectly balanced. What made the experience even more special was the incredibly friendly and attentive service. Our two small children were welcomed so warmly and treated with such kindness and patience. Every dish for them was beautifully prepared and served, with special kids’ plates and cutlery provided — such a thoughtful touch!
