JK Steak — Restaurant in Kanchanaburi Province

Finally got a chance to try this restaurant!

It's nice and big with a large, indoor, open-air room, and a little smaller, air conditioned room. We sat in the air conditioning.

As the name suggests---JK Steak---the bulk of their menu is dedicated to steaks. There are chicken and pork steaks prepared 5 different ways (plain, pepper, cheese, barbeque, and breaded.)

(Warning: a "Cheese" Steak here has ABSOLOUTLEY NOTHING IN COMMON with the famous "Philly Cheese Steak" from America! NOTHING! lol

They also have three different kinds of Beef Steak, which is not terribly common in Thailand: Sirloin, Rib Eye, T-bone.

If I had gone alone, I would have tried the Beef. I crave it, sometimes! But my wife doesn't eat Beef, and I wanted to be sure she could sample everything we ordered and give an opinion. So it was a Pork Pepper Steak, for me.

My wife ordered a pork salad ("Yam"), some clear noodles to mix with it, and a small cheese/spinach dish.

Of the 3 things we ordered, two had minor disappointments:

My Pork Streak was certainly tasty and properly cooked. But the meat was more chewy than I'm used to in Thailand, making me think it was second quality, not the top. (On reflection, though, had I ordered the Beef, if would have been exactly the same kind of chewy. So I'm not sure why it bothered me! lol)

The Pork Salad ("yam") was excellent.

The cheese/spinach was good. Just good. A 3 inch bowl of spinach with baked cheese on top. The problem is, every other place we've tried this, the spinach was in a cream or carbonara sauce under the baked cheese. This was JUST spinach with baked cheese on top. That's it.

My wife certainly seemed to enjoy it....... at least until the baked cheese was gone. But she named 3 or 4 other places we've been to that she thinks does it better!

Upon leaving, I told her "I like that place." She said "Me too!" So I guess the final answer is: We are definitely going...

Last evening wasn't our 1st sitting at this particular steakhouse, always super fast & efficient service with a friendly 😊. I prefer my steak medium rare & these guys always serve it up spot on, they have just about every type of steak one can think of plus there's a kids menu too. JK STEAK is highly...

Very tasty food at affordable prices. The pork steaks were excellent, as was the pork with basil. The dishes are served with a fried, half-cooked egg, which is a great addition. The staff was friendly, and the dishes were prepared quickly. Definitely a place...
