I tried their premium matcha. At first I was amazed at how much powder was used. At home I have variety of single origins matcha and blended. Usually I use 3-5 grams depending on the cup size of the day. The gentleman who made my matcha must’ve used 2 heaping spoons full. As he begins to mix in the milk, the texture seem oddly sticky and shiny. I never been able to get that consistency when making my own.

Upon getting my matcha, I asked if he add any sweetener (if not I would add a touch). He said the powder is already sweet. Also a bit strange to me as I thought it would be added afterwards.

When I actually tasted the matcha, my observations matches my tastebuds. The matcha seems to already have sweetener in the powder. There seems to be another powder ingredient in the matcha powder, I suspect it’s some kind of starch that gave it shiny gluten like texture while he was mixing. Hence, I suspect, of course I could be wrong, the reason why so much powder was added because it has other ingredients in it already.

All fine and good but I wish they would indicate it in their menu that there’s other ingredients in their matcha. To name it premium matcha, I thought I’m getting pure matcha.

In the end I couldn’t drink it. I feel starchy sensation covering my tongue. Maybe I will try other menu in the future but for sure I would not order the premium matcha again. Also I would ask what else is in their matcha powder...

I ordered a rather expensive matcha tea powder from this store. When emailing the company more than once with my questions, they were very prompt and informative. However, when I received the order I was surprised to find my tea contained in an unsealed tin. Expensive teas of this sort (especially if they are authentically Japanese, as their site says) are always in sealed containers, otherwise how does the buyer know they are authentic? They could be diluted with cheaper, culinary grade tea, or worse. Moreover, once matcha tea is unsealed and opened it should be refrigerated especially in hot and humid countries such as Thailand. When I emailed to inform the company of my observations, they never bothered to reply.

To be fair, the matcha I ordered from them tastes very good and seems to be of high quality, but I cannot give them a higher rating due to improper handling of such delicate goods. I would be happy to hear back from Seven Suns and consider amending my review.

EDITED TO ADD: a tremendous thanks to Seven Suns for again responding promptly, this time to my review. Service is as important as one's product and I appreciate the effort they took to get back with me. I am updating the rating I have given them and look forward to purchasing from them...
