I was deeply disappointed with my recent dining experience at SAOLE. Despite the upscale ambiance and exorbitant prices, the food fell short of expectations in both taste and presentation. The close proximity of tables made the dining experience noisy.
The extensive menu, offering a confusing mix of Thai, Chinese, and Western dishes, resulted in a disjointed culinary experience.
The ข้าวอบขากบภูเขาหม้อดิน was disappointingly soggy and lacked the depth of flavor expected from such a dish. The กุ้งสับผัดผักกาดดอง was a complete miss with an incorrect ingredient substitution and a flavor profile that was off-putting. Even the simple ปวยเล้งผัดเกลือ was underwhelming, lacking the aromatic qualities and crisp texture that one would expect.
We ordered two servings of ลิงกวินีหมึกกะตอยน้ำดำ. The first one had a nice, soft texture, but the second was a bit too al dente. It was disappointing that the pasta wasn't cooked consistently. I disliked the taste of the pasta itself; it felt like poor quality pasta. The squid was also undercooked; I couldn't tell if it was intentional or a mistake.
The ชีสยูนนานทอด was excessively greasy, both from the oil and the cheese itself. The squid eggs in 3 ไข่ทะเลยำ were cold, as if they hadn't been cooked properly. They were as cold as if they'd been straight from the refrigerator.
SAOLE's lofty reputation as a lavish modern restaurant was not upheld by my experience. The upscale ambiance was overshadowed by subpar service and overpriced, mediocre food. The inconsistent quality of the dishes and the lack of attention to detail were particularly disappointing. While the staff was polite, the overall experience was underwhelming and not worth the...
Read moreI have to say I had high expectations for this place after reading so many reviews. First of all, the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. The decor is beautiful, and the vibe feels cozy almost like dining at home. The tables are well spaced, not too crowded or cramped, and the staff were very attentive and friendly.
As for the food, the flavors are quite unique but tend to be on the salty side. If you’re not a fan of salty food, this might not be your favorite spot. But if you enjoy that flavor profile, you might really love it. The prices are quite high for every dish, and the portions are not very large. I was a bit disappointed with the seafood, which wasn’t as fresh as I had hoped.
If the restaurant improves the freshness of the ingredients and adjusts portion sizes to better match the prices, it would be a big plus. That said, I do understand the higher costs, considering the restaurant is located in the heart of Thonglor, where rent is...
Read moreI expected more from the reviews and the price. If you’re a super big fan of northern eastern Thai food, then you could give it a try. I enjoy some dishs, but it was more on the ordinary side (pork neck and noodles with crispy pork fat).
atmosphere feels disorganized, there weren’t that many people but it felt noisy. The room temperature wasn’t right, so I didn’t feel relax during the meal at all. Someone was celebrating the kids birthday, and the kids were running around. The food didn’t taste better than dishs you could find at cheaper more local places. The table was too small, it felt cramped. The waitress put our water bottle at different table and often come pour it to our table because there weren’t just any space for the water bottle. Ice is priced as a bucket, 100 baht per...
