HANJI Authentic Taiwanese Hot Pot — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Nuea Subdistrict

I didn’t plan on coming here but ended up it was an experience. (I don’t wanna comment on the food nor the sauces. I mean the hot pot game has wide range of comparison since I have seen it every part of the world. People would tend to compare with haidilao or like me, have been to insanely fancy places in Taiwan. But that’s not the point.)

I like the soup choices. It’s not overwhelmingly complicated. I chose the Mongolian herbs. It’s was AWESOME! Definitely recommend that and will return for that.

The beef has two types on this wagyu platter. I only liked one of them. The other two were tougher not by far but I just prefer one out of three.

The veggies that came with had a lot of variety to it. So it was nice. Carrot baby corn spinach Napa cabbage enoki mushrooms some weird fish ball with some weird gooey thing which I regretted eating, taro, bak Choy and tofu. Really nice combination!

I didn’t like the 320 Baht scallops. I can’t commend on that. I thought it should be bigger. Or at least having them on ice. But they are not.

The iced Chinese tea was great. It’s light as water but the amount of ice was great. Icy thought out the meal. The interior is cool as well. Not sure if that would be the case when more people come.

Individual hotpot station is nice. Very nice.

I loved the soup base. Tons of staffs. They let me try the soup options beforehand cause I was confused. If they would have reheat it for me before letting me try, it would make more sense. I’m not sure if it’s ok to have cold soup. That’s just my concern. It’s just the gesture. Its not wrong but making it hot for customers to try would ease the hygiene concern and just more elevated in experience.

Spicy Mala soup is recommended. Spicy teste note can causes numbness delicoius. It may get more salty as long as the soup drained - can refill.

Sesame & Beer soup is worth to try. Aroma of sesame, taste of beer, should pair along with high-quality beef which the restaurant has Wagyu premium grade provided.

Side dish is Papaya with Passion fruit sauce, really amazing teste!! Vegetables are so fresh. Variety of Sauces. Fruit blended one is quite amazing.

I really want to give recommendations of Hanji to everyone after my meal there on Sunday night. I live in the area and have been to Hanji a number times now ever since it opened. Each visit I felt there have always been improvements in either food or service which is how I felt my latest time.

However, after the meal on Sunday both my girlfriend and I fell extremely ill, vomiting, stomach cramps, high fevers, and have been battling a bad stomach ever since. We’ve never felt this horrible from a dining experience before. Perhaps it was the 5 year anniversary ‘seafood platter’ special or the contaminated vegetables I am not sure.
