Had brunch here on a nice, sunny morning. Reaching here was a bit difficult as the exterior of the restaurant is non-descript yet somehow after a few detours we finally reached here. On entering it was dark and we could see the kitchen and various foods with their tempting aroma was wafting from there. All members of the family were busy preparing the meal. We were greeted by the host and taken to the dinning area. On entering the dinning area we were mesmerized by its beauty, dining deck homely decorated with surrounding view of the seagreen water. We were spellbound. Perfect Instagramable area. We ordered pork ribs, whiskey sour and cold coffee. Food and drinks were a perfect accompaniment to the area, succulent pieces of pork and the cold beverages what's not to love. We wanted to try other dishes but weren't able to do so due to lack of time. Leaving this place was pretty difficult. Location, food, prices, staff behaviour makes this place a must visit one. Prices are affordable ones. The host and few members of the family were friendly and welcoming, we talked for a while about our journey and their restaurant, in general about life in Thailand, very enriching experience. We really enjoyed our time here and will surely want to...
Read moreAbsolutely phenomenal food. We tried most the restaurants in old town, and a few of the higher rated ones on the other side of the island. Nothing compared. The family that runs this place is so friendly too! We were staying in The Old House next door (also highly recommended) and when we finished our stay the family gave us small gifts to remember them by! They even gave me a few cooking tips.
When I come back to Thailand I will definitely be making a stop here. My favorite dish was the Pepper and Garlic Squid, but they have excellent fish as well. My wife loved their fried rice. In addition to the great food, the view and atmosphere is gorgeous. The small table at the end of the pier is quite romantic at night with the tide coming in. This was one of our favorite memories from the trip!
I would highly recommend this restuarant to anyone visiting the island. Even if you're on the other side, it's worth the trip to...
Read moreStopped by a convenient store along the old Lanta Town street to get my bike filled. Asked the lady to recommend a restaurant and she immediately recommended Apsara. The restaurant front isn't inviting. You have to walk pass the kitchen to get to the main seating at the back, built over stilts. There are just 6 tables with another lone table sitting on the platform at the end of a short jetty. It must be very romantic early in the morning or late evening. The furniture are weathered but the there's a nice feeling to it and feel homely. The waiter speaks good English, very rare. After knowing my taste, he recommended 3 flavor fish (250B), probably their signature dish. The snapper was deep fried and topped with flavorful sauce. It is a bit spicy, sourish, and tangy. This is one of the best fish I ever tried, and I don't usually enjoy fish. The setting is nicer when the...
