First time I went there, the cocktail was pretty bad, so I just didn't order anything else. Then a few days later I read a bunch of reviews and we came back for a quick and easy lunch on the beach. We shared a beer, then ordered a papaya salad, a green curry with vegetables (medium spicy), and a chicken fried rice (very spicy). The papaya salad was served within a minute and tasted completely bland. Very sweet, no lime, barely any spice, under salted, and it had no long beans whatsoever. I ended up adding fish sauce, salt, pepper, asked for lime and made my own blend to salvage it and make it edible. My green curry came and was very obviously just reheated on a very high heat, had probably been boiled for quite a while, and had zero taste of coconut (+my stomach confirmed it was mostly dairy than coconut milk). It was also very sweet and little spicy. I was starving and didn't think of sending it back. I should have... I ate only the veggies (that were ok). My bf's fried rice was sitting in a bath of oil and tasted like it had been cooked in a burnt wok that left small pieces of black burnt food from days ago in it. Pretty horrible honestly. Thank god for the cold singha... In general, the restaurants on this beach are lower quality, but there's much better than this for the same price honestly. After 3 weeks on the island and 4 months in Thailand, I can safely say this is the worst green curry, som tam and fried rice I've had. Do yourself a favor, avoid this place. (Staff is nice though, for the most part that doesn't seem too bored...
Read moreI’m not sure why this place is rated so highly. It must be the sea views. The food is tasty but so very overpriced for the quantity. For example, a whole fresh fish done tamarind style here would have cost us 528 baht. In Ao Nang, it cost us 200 baht. I know the locations are totally different but just throwing out an example. I’m sure you do pay extra for the beachfront locale but if you want tasty well-portioned meals, I’d skip it. We also had some communication barriers and two of our dishes needed to be redone - though the staff are kind and do try their hardest. Also the country music drove me batty and ruined the...
