Funky Fish Beachfront Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Krabi Province

Really bizarre place. Went in on a very quiet night, sat on elevated beach front mats. Ordered Phanang and Red Curry, asked for both to be spicy. Within 3 minutes the dishes were served, clearly indicating they were not fresh. Neither curry was spicy, the chicken super rubbery. Sauces quite bland, lacking flavour. We ate it nonetheless as we were hungry.

After finishing the meal, we also ordered another round of drinks after checking they were definitely still open. Upon serving the drinks they immediately turned off the lights around us and started packing up. Another section of the restaurant had it's lights on, but our section did not. The staff then cleared the mats from underneath us, effectively telling us to drink up and leave.

Terrible service. Worst experience we have had in the whole of SE Asia so far.

Whether you are on Long Beach in low or high season you can rely on the Funky Fish for great value, tasty food and a lovely chilled atmosphere. The staff are welcoming and great fun. Great food choices include Captains Plate of fried fish and seafood (250 baht) and fabulous som tam (green papaya salad, 80 baht). Masaman curry is to die for. And if you fancy a western option the burgers (120 baht) are great in both taste and size. Well worth watching the sun go down here. Really awful food especially considering the price we paid. The fish was obviously frozen which made it watery inside, the chips were definitely reheated and they were so hard you could’ve broken a tooth. They also had a faint taste of burnt which was really unpleasant. My friend ordered a carbonara and could only eat one bite as the inside was like warm and the outside was stone cold and gelatinous. I really don’t recommend this place to eat. The staff were really helpful and kind, just such a shame...
