WS Porn Isan Restaurant — Restaurant in Ko Lanta Yai

2024: As always port restaurant is one of my favourite spots for Thai food on Lanta. The couple that is cooking is just the loveliest and the food is just amazing. The Grilled chicken, the cucumber salad, and the corn salad are my to go meals when I am at this restaurant. But you have to take some time - good food needs to be prepared fresh and might take a while.

2023: This is a super tiny place directly on the main street between the clinic and the post office but it has amazing food. The owner is cooking by himself and even though we have been a group of 8 people, the food came fast and at the same time - which is really rare in Thailand. Ok, if you want authentic Thai food without the more Western oriented sensibilities, then this place is it!! Locals and tourists come here and it’s not for the ambiance!! But if you want great food at an inexpensive price and truly authentic Thai cuisine, come to Porn Isan. We had two salads, corn and papaya and they were excellent but spicy. Northeastern Thai food. Very old-school rustic eatery: metal roof, exposed 2x4s, plastic chairs, side of the road with construction and dust, etc., and super cheap: a little over 400 baht total for 4 people (4 freshly grilled chicken (each chicken is a thigh and leg), 3 sticky rice, 1 nam tok nuea (beef salad), 1 coke, and 1 water).
