This restaurant was a recommendation with sea food so I gave it a try. The first thing I noticed was that it was quite hot there so I wanted to stay nearby the entrance - as I was on my own the waiter asked me if I couldn't move to a smaller table in the even hotter area of the restaurant which I declined and moved to 1 of the two outside tables where one may catch fresh air.
I was going for chargrilled tandoori barracuda fillet served with tikka masala sauce, turmeric infused rice, homemade onion bhaaji, indian samosa, poppadum, raita and mango chutney priced at 350 TBH. Meal was really very delicious.
Staff wasn't attentive at first but this changed soon after otherwise I would have made 1 star deduction because of it.
Update ( 2019-01-20 ): Went there again for dinner. Staff was very attentive this time from the beginning. Went for the "thai fusion" whole snapper steamed in banana leaf with thai basil, ginger & chili served with spicy thai-style dipping sauce, mixed salad and roasted vegetables priced at 420 TBH. Was quite delicious but I personally prefer their barracuda. Also gave their mojito a try which was nice.
As a side note: if you catch a guy of them on the street with flyers: thats a 15% "vip discount voucher" which they usually hand to people in a group of at least 2 persons and no...
Read moreOverall not a great experience for me. We didn’t have a booking and that unfortunately have ruined a little bit the atmosphere for us. Sitting at the bench top it’s not very nice, it face hotel rooms and roofs of other buildings, but that was not the problem. The stools were super uncomfortable, hard sitting, no rest for the back, to high that you actually need to lean over on the food to not make a mess. Music however was very good, not to high and creating the right mood. The waiters were very attentive and tried to meet our needs, however is a busy place. Food for me was average. We had fish tacos a starter which were ok, and the fish sharing platter. This was disappointing: the portions are generous but that’s all. The fried calamari were overcooked, as were the scallops. The barracuda fish cake for me was a no, the flavour was a bit off (lemongrass?), and the barracuda fillet was underwhelming. The prawns cooked in the butter were pretty good tho (but why the butter?!), and the snapper was cooked well and tender. The biggest disappointment was the barracuda ceviche - so spicy that blew my head off. Other places in the area serve very good grilled fish board, I must say this was a no for me, it felt they tried the fusion too hard with...

Its a savory tapas place, which mainly focus on fresh seafood. Most important the dishes are not sweet here and the dishes have an accurate salt level. Thats not very common on ko tao, which most tapas places are way to sweet for western taste buds nor know the importance of using salt in western dishes. Seafood ceviche, seared scallops, garlic prawns, tuna tacos have all well balanced flavors and are super tasty here.
Classic cocktails are actual classic cocktails here. The preparation is very accurate. No crazy fancy twist, which deform the whole drink. There is a reason why they became classic cocktails. Whisky sour / margarita were made accurate with a zingy finish.
Everyone, who love accurate, tasty & well balanced tapas & drinks will not be disappointed here. 870 baht for 5 tapas, thats an amazing value for money, especially when you are on an island and nearly all dishes include seafood!
P.S. your bread, which its served with the tapas, its a little bit to sweet for me. It feels more like a brioche bun. Mabye review or adjust the recipe. A less sweet bread will be more happy to dip in a garlic...
