This scran won’t remind you of Italy, but it will certainly make you forget Thailand. 5 star with a caveat…
After 5 weeks of travelling in this graceful country, I can confirm this is the BEST PIZZA I’ve had to date. So bang-bang for LA Pizzeria with regard to that. That being said and making a comparison to the ‘pizza scale rating’, I’d place this at a 7 (decent for Italian food in Thailand).
The charring on the base and cornicione could have been increased, which to me suggests the pizza oven wasn’t that top tier heat needed to create that perfect balance of char and fresh dough - from memory, it was gas heated, not wood, so always difficult to sustain 450C+.
The dough itself was however pretty decent, somewhere between a sourdough and the classic Neapolitan style. I personally lean towards Neapolitan.
Sauce on the pizza fairly peng, but lack of seeds in there, indicating not a homemade ting or the toms used were poor quality.
So for my final remarks and having visited this gaff on 2 occasions, it is FIT pizza that suited as a good source of rest-bite from Thai food (leaving me for sure impressed), but not in the upper realms of the pizza experience.
Not quite wifey-material,...
Read moreWe had high expectations with this restaurant due to the high rating of its google reviews, but we ended totally disappointed.
First of all, we arrived and made the order at 7:05 pm and we received the food at 8:20pm, this is one hour and fifteen minutes from our order. I can understand that the restaurant was busy...but it doesn't take 1:15 hour to prepare one pizza and one spaghetti carbonara (italian style).
As per the food, the pizza called meat lover was fine, quite tasty and bread was good. But the italian carbonara...mamma mia...I don't know how they can call it italian style carbonara, when they are using cream to prepare it, and the carbonara didn'd taste like cheese, or bacon or anything...it was totally bland, like hospital food. This fact, together with the massive wait to have our food, doesn’t allow me to give the restaurant more than 2 star. Also note that they dont allow payments with card, only cash, and the restaurant is not on the cheap side.
Sometimes, it is better to have no expectations, just in case the surprise is on the...
Read moreTotally not best experience of Italian cuisine in Thailand. We’ve been here twice. First time we ordered Lasagna Parmigiana, Bolognese pasta and Margarita pizza. Bolognese was good, Lasagna Parmigana was very sour, but ok. Pizza is more like Roman style, but with super soft dough. And it wasn’t a mozzarella buffalo Margarita, more like regular pizza cheese one. Taste was pretty good. Overall we were satisfied with this visit. Second time we’ve ordered gnocchi bolognese and Italian style carbonara. Both of these dishes we didn’t enjoyed. The pasta was not Italian style, it was with cream. But even with cream the taste wasn’t good at all. And there were absolutely no cheese in it, 0%! And it also wasn’t served side. And gnocchi were like porridge texture, totally not as they need to be. So, two totally different experiences here. Up to your taste, as always, but I personally can’t say this is really amazing as you can read in other reviews. The atmosphere, service is...
