Kitty and I, along with a group of friends, were on a motorbike road trip through Thailand, traveling from Phuket to Krabi. After checking into our hotel, we decided to try some authentic Thai food at the Krabi Night Street Food (ตลาดกลางคืนสะพานเจ้าฟ้า) instead of a restaurant. We stumbled upon a stall and decided to give it a try, ordering a variety of dishes to share (photos are attached, so you can see the store and the food we ordered).
However, our experience wasn't great. Most of the food was below average. The Tom Yum soup and green curry were disappointing, lacking depth of flavor. The lala (clams), mussels, and fish all had a strange, off-putting smell. Some of us even commented that the fish had a fishy smell. Overall, the food was underwhelming, and even though we ate our fill, we left feeling dissatisfied with the quality.
After dinner, we decided to try one of the ice cream stalls selling coconut ice cream. It was tended by a very old auntie, I think in her 80s. My friend mentioned we should support her, so we bought three coconut ice creams. However, I personally found the ice cream underwhelming. The coconut flavor wasn't strong enough, and there weren't many toppings to add. It only had a few pieces of attachi corn as a topping. It was inexpensive, costing only 30 baht, but I wouldn't personally return to this stall for the ice cream.
The service at the food stall was excellent, though. We appreciated the friendly staff and the quick service.
We were a bit surprised because we've heard so many great things about Thailand's street food. We've been traveling around Thailand for eight days, trying different foods, and this stall at the Krabi Night Street Food just didn't live up to our expectations. It's a shame because we were hoping for a more enjoyable experience.
We hope that in the future, the street food stalls at Krabi Night Street Food can maintain a higher standard of quality, especially considering the reputation of Thai street food.
We're giving Krabi Night Street Food a 2-star rating. The food was disappointing, but the service was good. We hope that in the future, the street food stalls at Krabi Night Street Food can maintain a higher standard of quality, especially considering the reputation of Thai...
Read moreKrabi Night Street Food Market is definitely worth a visit if you're in town and looking for a vibrant, local food experience. The atmosphere is lively, with music, lights, and a buzzing crowd that gives you a true feel of Krabi’s street life. It’s a fun place to walk around, try different dishes, and enjoy some authentic Thai flavors.
I tried the grilled fish, which looked absolutely tempting on the grill, but it was a bit over-fried for my taste. The skin was a little too crispy, and it lost some of that juicy tenderness I was hoping for. Still, the flavor was nice overall, especially when dipped in the spicy seafood sauce they serve on the side. It wasn’t bad, just not as perfect as it could have been.
The prawns fried rice, however, was really good! It came with plenty of prawns, was nicely seasoned, and made for a very satisfying dish. I’d definitely recommend that one.
The market itself is well-maintained, clean, and easy to explore. Seating can be limited during peak hours, but the quick service makes up for it. Prices are fair, and the vendors are friendly and helpful even when it’s busy.
I’d say it’s a great place for a casual dinner with friends or family. Not every dish is perfect, but the overall experience, variety, and local flavor make it well worth visiting. One of the best food spot for food lovers looking for something fun and flavorful in Krabi. Will be back to try...
Read moreThree of us ate here twice at two different places. Both times times the food was awful. The worst we’ve had in our months in Thailand. First we had Pad Thai and it was really bad. I left mine it was that bad. The next time we tried a different place and the portion size was so tiny. We ordered curry’s and rice. I felt like they made them too spicy on purpose and miniature portions. We ate and paid then went to the Krabi walking market straight away as we were all still hungry. Don’t bother going here. It looks nice next to the river but the food quality is bad. Also once it goes dark thousands of tiny flies come out and they let the fresh fish get covered in the flies and don’t bother to cover them. Can only imagine what else they let...
