I got food poisoning! I am writing right at night after I felt sick, but now I feel a little better. After reading the reviews, I chose this restaurant for my wife and I. Yesterday at 8 pm my wife and I ordered baked lobster with cheese as the first course. When the dish was being served I smelled a bad odor, while eating we sniffed the meat and it smelled bad. We called the waiter and asked her to smell it and take a piece to the chef for inspection. After that the head chef (or administrator) came out to us personally and assured us that the lobster meat was fresh. We were offered to cook a new lobster, but we refused because the head chef himself assured us that everything was fine. As a gift from the head chef we received 2 glasses of wine. After that we also ordered seafood, but they seemed to be fine. Upon arrival home my wife immediately had diarrhea. Everything was fine with me, but at 2-3 am I felt sick and threw up several times. Now that I feel better I am writing a review right away. This is not normal! Of course, we do not eat lobsters every day, but this is far from the first lobster in our lives and that is why, having smelled a bad smell, we asked to take it to the chef for inspection. If you made a mistake, then you should have simply admitted it, taken the bad dish from us and cooked a new one. You can not poison people and say that the dish is okay! The restaurant is not cheap and although we received a discount on the bill from the chef, but neither the discount nor the wine does not justify you! Horrible! I do...
Read moreOur experience at The River Restaurant & Bar was nothing short of amazing. Here’s what we ordered: • Coconut milk soup with coconut shoot and shrimps • Stir-fried clams with sweet basil • The River signature spicy salad • Two kinds of crab
The standout dish for me was the coconut milk soup—it was incredibly creamy and packed with flavor. Everything else was also delicious. The crabs, in particular, were impressively fresh and cooked to perfection. To top it off, we had a mango passion fruit smoothie that was fresh, refreshing, and absolutely delightful.
Ambience & Service: The atmosphere was incredibly inviting, with tasteful decor, pleasant music, and a stunning view of the sea and surrounding mountains. However, the true highlight was the exceptional service. The staff went above and beyond, assisting us with our orders and making sure we were comfortable throughout. For example, when we decided to move our table outside, they handled it seamlessly. They even replaced our bowl for clam shells without us asking and kept our water glasses refilled without being intrusive.
This combination of fantastic food, a lovely environment, and outstanding service makes The River Restaurant & Bar a must-visit. Highly...
Read moreSo I’m not one to usually write reviews but this is a special occasion, and I’m not going to waste any more time regarding this restaurant so I will try keep it short. Firstly we waited 45 mins for our food to arrive. We had all ordered burgers and as previously discussed we would be having “roasted” potatoes instead of fries, oh and a “large portion” too. So when the food arrived and we have mash potatoes, hardly even a spoonful, you can say we were a little surprised. However understanding there might have been a miss communication, we decided to ignore it. We waited 15 mins for our cutlery to arrive, even after a discussion with the head of staff who said we didn’t need them, it still took a further 5 mins. By which time our “roasted” potatoes were cold. Now we come to the bill. First attempt by the restaurant was completely wrong, this took us a while to figure out as they couldn’t translate the order. Second attempt was still over priced and after the bar staff laughed it off they then took off another 300bhat. Which was still a good 400bhat above the correct price.
We got a discount and used it to get some nearby street food.
Not that...
