The food here is pretty good but I feel like the experience I had is worth sharing. I ate here on my first day in Krabi Town and everything was good. After walking around to see what else was in town on day two, I ended up back here because I wanted to try something from the Indian food menu after briefly chatting with the owner (or manager maybe) outside as I passed by. He was being very friendly at the time. I sat down to order and the waiter could barely understand me, which is generally fine. I have a severe peanut allergy so I was trying to ask him if a dish had peanuts and if I could get food with absolutely no peanuts. I had a backup in mind that wasn't supposed to have peanuts so eventually I mentioned that I could just get that. I gave him a card that I have stating my allergy in Thai as well, but he couldn't read Thai as he had immigrated here from a different country. Eventually someone else came out to help and helped me order the first dish I was asking about with no peanuts. So then my food came out and it was both of the dishes, and the one I'd thought of as a backup but didn't end up needing to order came out with peanuts! Needless to say I told them I didn't order it and couldn't eat it. I didn't even really mind paying for it but wasn't thrilled to, but was trying to tell them once again that I absolutely can't eat anything that has traces of peanuts, as they were offering to scrape them off. Then the owner comes out and proceeds to grill me about whether I ordered this and did I explicitly ask for no peanuts on both dishes, and got very mean with me. I wasn't trying to make any issue, just trying to get my point across. He insisted that I ordered both and didn't ask for no peanuts even though he hadn't been present for any of the interactions prior. Eventually I just said whatever it's not a problem and he stormed off without a word.
Why would I order two dishes for just myself? Moreover, why would it make sense for one to come out with peanuts when I've gone through the whole ordeal of ordering the other with none, whether I was explicit about both or not?
Eventually one of the guys who helped me order came out and said he knows I only ordered one dish. They took the other off my bill so that was all fine. The owner who was so mean to me about it however never took any action to correct or apologize, and just sat inside. I still left a good tip because while the waiter made things difficult, this was all really a reflection on the owner. I know things are different here, but there is really no excuse for treating a paying customer so badly, who is just trying to get across to them. It left a very bad taste in my mouth, and I will absolutely not return here if I'm ever in Krabi again or be recommending this...
Read moreAVOID THIS RESTAURANT AT ALL COSTS! I'm writing this review as a warning to others: stay far, far away from this Indian food restaurant! I've tried their food more than 5 times, and each time, it's been an unmitigated disaster. The food is consistently pathetic, with no effort made to use fresh ingredients or cook dishes to order.
STALE FOOD, EVERY TIME Every single time I've ordered, the food has smelled like it was cooked a day or two ago. It's clear they're just reheating old food and serving it to unsuspecting customers. And don't even get me started on the "tawa roti" - when I specifically ask for a soft, freshly cooked roti with butter, they serve me a frozen, stale abomination instead.
LAZY COOKING PRACTICES The menu may be long, but it's all just variations on the same stale, uninspired dishes. It's clear they're not even trying to cook fresh food to order. Instead, they're just mass-producing the same few curries and serving them up day after day.
PROFITS OVER CUSTOMERS What's most egregious is that they're clearly prioritizing profits over customer satisfaction. They're serving unfresh food, ignoring customer requests, and showing a complete disregard for the health and well-being of their customers. It's appalling.
A PLEA TO THE RESTAURANT To the restaurant owners, I say: take a long, hard look at your business practices. If you're going to charge good money for your food, you'd better start taking care of your customers. Use fresh ingredients, cook food to order, and actually care about the people you're serving. Until then, I'll be taking my business (and my appetite) elsewhere.
ONE STAR FROM ME And that's being generous. One star is all this restaurant deserves. Avoid it...
Read moreMy last night in Thailand.
After spending the last 4 months travelling I’m quite well adjusted to the ways of south east Asia. Cash is king. However seeing as it was our last meal here in Thailand. We asked prior to our meal can we use the card machine as going to an ATM would cost me an additional 220B (which isn’t a lot but unnecessary).
The staff in the establishment were friendly and as helpful as they could be so I cannot fault them whatsoever. The food itself was mediocre but you get pay for and it was my own personal opinion, others may enjoy it.
Unfortunately due to technical issues the card machine was down which cannot be helped by anyone. The staff asked us to wait an additional 10 minutes for the owner to come and we had no issue with this. The owner turned up within 10minutes and just reset the machine for us to pay and there was no issue. Until he started telling me how I should spend my own money. This continued and he raised his voice at me infront of everyone which left me embarrassed for no reason! All I did was try to explain the situation to him and pay him the money for the food. Might be worth showing staff how to reset the machine to avoid the owner having to come in, as this would keep everyone happy.
If you decide to go here, make sure you pay with cash to save yourself the hassle of having to meet him. Ruined my evening and experience at...
