Carrot on the Moon (cookiery-restaurant) and Carrot on the Moon (Hostel) are run by the same people.
When it opened a bit more then a year ago I really loved the name and even the surroundings which reminded me of a wild kindergarten courtyard without the fence. It is nothing sophisticated but in good times they make it up with some original and tasty cookings and bakeries.
But then in less good times, during rainy days low season or during Avocado low season (October to May) the whole concept might crumble in pieces..a bit like a dry Crumble cake.. And the motivation to care about the garden isnt a priority anymore..(actualy to be honest has never really been)
I imagine what attracts people is the lovely funny name.. then depending on the season and the motivation everything else if they just give a little bit of themselves.
Its a fact that due to many reasons specialy new small places with limited budget and no hospitality experience get their first painful return results and aswel their 1st kik in the A.. around 1 year after opening.
Then only to find out that turn over is low, audit was inexistant, treasury& cashflow was spend on vacation...then occupancy rate slowly declines...and motivation starts to crum..(hh)vanish and some customers might end up totally dispointed and never come back. Who wouldnt?
These ups and downs are sadly common among many places here as there are simply way too many of those, selling generally the same products and all falling short at the same time when Avocado takes some time off or if the owner gets the blues..
But I cross fingers that "Carrot on the Moon" will be back on Earth soon and amaze us all again with great Avocado plates.
Avocado season has just reopened a few days...

I cleaned the toilet before I used.. About the brekfast, was one of the main things why I came, but was just 1(one) toast and 2 eggs.. Nothing else, I asked please for a tea and another toast. The problem was that the place its empty nobody can help you, its was a very nice girl who recive me with a cake but she didn't speek english, and its only a few hours, I try to look for an attendant person but didn't have luck.. As I said before Im sure it was not a good moment, but just keep it in mind if you visit the place and so you are not cheated as me by the old...
Read moreThis is a cute cafe just outside of walking street best known for its western style offerings. I haven’t had food here but I’ve made frequent visits for drinks and to work (the Wi-Fi is fine).
They offer complimentary water which is very nice. The smoothies in my opinion are overpriced. The best thing is the nut milk options. You won’t find macadamia milk anywhere else. I do like the avocado smoothie which is great if you’re a little backed up —if you know what I mean. The cappuccino is fine.
Beware if you sit in, the mosquito situation is very bad. They should actually consider providing repellent for their guests.
The most frustrating thing is that it’s a gamble to know when they’re open. This could be a situation of visiting off season (in August) but they close early without notice ! I found the staff...
