Duang Laundry, Duang Rental, Travel Agency, Taxi Service, Restaurant, Breakfast & Brunch, you name it.. .. Are all run by 3 generations of the same large Duang family from PAI and their shops are all situated in the same row all along walking street.
Starting at the lower end with a house running a laundry service at the back and in the front having some tables and a terrasse serving breakfast and brunch, then a few bungalows for rent, a travel agency and a taxi service with large white SUVs (Pai to ChiangMai is 2500thb) run by Duang Grand Pa* and lastly at the top end on the street corner their less then remarkable restaurant.
At some nights during high season market time they serve freshly hand made and prepared in front of you, a selection of chinese filled raviolis: Vegetarian or Pork filling and 1 or 2 more choices. Those are really worth a try!
The place or shall I say the places are run during the day by a whole company of family members with a bunch of kids playing around and all being very busy. As far as I could read from other reviews unfortunately less focused on a friendly service or a good kitchen.
The only quality service as far as I have tried is their laundry service situated 6 or 7 houses below (next to the government house with the large garden) and even thought it is slightly more expensive then some others it's worth the price.
Tip: ask for separate washing in case of white clothing mixed with colored ones. 99% of all Laundry services in Pai (or even in Thailand) use only cold water but unfortunately have very often a heavy hand on soap and softener to compensate which can cause serious allergies.(and water pollution)
In case this is a problem don't hesitate to talk about it and ask to reduce or not use softener.
Mr Duang Grand Pa is a very friendly old man who has a good understanding in English. In case of trouble with one of their many services I would suggest talking to him as he is certainly due his age the most respected person around. And as said also a friendly type of person to...
Read moreNot sure why I see any negative reviews on here as the food was superb and prices super fair too first night there I had the pad see ew and it was on point while the lady had the seafood rad na which was one the best I've had in Thailand and why we returned again for lunch 2 days later as I needed a bowl of it for myself it was just to good. The staff are incredibly friendly and hard working, please be aware the owner and most if not all his staff are with hearing disabilities and please try and learn or be patient with them if they do not respond in words or hear you shouting at them. Take a moment to smile and make eye contact wave them over or try and hand signal for what you need. I can only see this as why there are past negative reviews is ppl being ignorant to the disabilities of the people here. For me it's only made me want to support them more because they are just as good or better food then anywhere on and around walking street and the owner has helped so many staff there with hearing disabilities attain full time meaningful jobs which I imagine is much harder in Thailand then the west to attain. Go check em out as I cannot say enough good things about this place and the people working their. If you go take a second near the end your meal to good "check please" and "thank you" in ASL both are super easy and the smile the owner and staff will give you after you show them you care and you're trying to better understand thier lives is super heartwarming 😊 the owner is truly the kindest gentleman go say hello him and his...
Read moreMy rating is based on Thai Local restaurants alone, instead of general dinings in Pai. This is one of the good places to eat for local foods. It would be 3 if I am to rate it compared to all other fancy restaurants around for sure. But if you wanna enjoy local authentic, they offer a wide variety of choice. The place is spacious for a number of people to eat. Good for huge groups as well. And the prices are not reasonable. The foods are not in their best taste but I like that they don’t over flavour them (esp. the MSG) compared to other local places. I personally like the seats outside by the road. Staff here are also good & polite. They never ask you to go out when you sit w/o orders yet & always wait whenever you’re ready to order or pay. You will find it quite busy in lunch time and dinner time though. Quickest choice for me to go when in doubt where...
