My boyfriend and I found this restaurant along the Pai walking street only on the last night of our stay in Pai, which we have tried a few others and were disappointed. However, Sugarcane was the gem we found and were surprised by the quality of food - authentic Thai taste and fresh ingredients. We had the pineapple fried rice which was one of the best we have tried in Thailand, Papaya Salad, which they used premium grade dried shrimp which gives an extra flavor (similar to Japanese Sakura shrimps), pork satay that was super tender and tasty, Tom Yum w chicken that has that spicy kick! Even a simple dish of Broccoli and shrimp was done very well! Everything here is great and staff were very friendly! The owner even go around the table introducing herself and it was heartwarming to know they are back in business after 2.5 years of hiatus from Covid. You’ll never be disappointed w the quality of food...

The SugarCane named after Aoy one of the families daughter who rebuild this place using and keeping the original Teaq wood and pillars from her old family house.

Build on a large surface, SugarCane has 3 different counters: Various d rinks, Fruitshakes and even a Texmex stand. The Thai kitchen is at the back near the old family well.

They run a small but well managed menu card with or without spices (if possible). Classic Thai, Issan and 2 different steamfish preparations are among the highlights.

One can sit on chairs or Thai style on the floor to eat.

The owner, a daughter of the family house has a good command in english and there is a nice ambient in general in this large partly open air restaurant.

A nice place to eat, or enjoy a drink while watching the crowd passing by in...

this place gone down hill

we came here a few months ago and it was amazing and went there loads of times

now its rubbish. seems like a new menu, new staff

the smoothie was not smooth, was super lumpy

the chicken wings were brown and disgusting inside - nothing like they used to be

i ordered chicken curry, was supposed to come with naan bread

they brought it out and didn’t have naan, came with rice

I was just like what happened? they said it was their fault they didn’t know

If it wasn’t coming with bread i would have ordered something else

a curry isn’t a curry without bread - lets be real

the pad thai was average

overall, i wouldn’t go back here - i paid for the smoothie and pad thai and said im not paying for the rest

they...

Second day in Pai.. so far not that impressed with the restaurants here compared to other places in Thailand. Also Noticed that most of the staff here at eateries in Pai don't greet you, or acknowledge you at all when you are at the entrance looking at the menu. When I ordered the food, the staff seemed annoyed.. no smile, no nothing. Quite unwelcoming. Food was ok, but no tissues or anything on the bare table. The restrooms and sink are quite clean though
