I stopped by this restaurant as I was looking for a massage to kill my time at the airport.. this is a new establishment right across from sensib thai massage. I opted out of getting a massage because the price was outrageous.. I decided to stop at this place because the hostess, Saifon was very nice and really inviting. I only had the mango sticky rice and pink guava juice, so I can only comment on these items and the general establishment. First of all, the place is tucked away from the main hallway, so it's quiet which means if you are looking for peace and quiet away from the hussle and bustle of the airport, this place will give you the serenity moment. Ok, the food.. as you know airport establishments are general more expensive than in the city for obvious reasons, so yes, it is a bit more expensive, but within airport food price range.. the mango sticky rice was ok overall.. the presentation was nicely done (sorry I forgot to take a picture to share), however I think the rice can be softer and more moist as I think the most difficult part of this dish is in the sticky rice!! The coconut sauce can be more rich. It felt like to me the sauce was thickened with starch and didn't have enough coconut, so the coconut flavor was a little lacking. The guava juice was from a bottle, I was expecting fresh squeezed guava. With a price of 150bht, I thought they can do fresh squeezed. Mango tree is an old establishment with really good Thai food, so if they hold up to the mango tree restaurants, you should get good...
Read moreFood wasn't great, but by airport food standards, it's still acceptable. We ordered the basil leaf pork and rice, khao soi, and the tom yum noodle soup. The basil leaf pork was not bad, however the other two dishes weren't that nice. The tom yum noodle soup tasted like slightly diluted tom yum instant noodles and the khao soi was way too salty. We also got the set deal which came with mango and sticky rice, that was still of acceptable standard.
The environment was quite nice as this restaurant is at the end of the long corridor between the two ends of the airport, and is at a corner which gives privacy. Prices are slightly higher which is expected as it is a restaurant in an airport after all.
Overall, considering the other options in the airport, this place is not a bad choice to get a quick meal. Perhaps I will try their phad thai next time as this seems to be highly...
Read moreThe priciness is understandable due to its location, but the mediocre food was especially disappointing given that this is a Thai restaurant in Bangkok. We had beef noodles and fried chicken - the rice noodles were undercooked, with hard plasticky bits I had to spit out, while the fried chicken was tasteless. We also ordered vegetarian phad Thai, which was all right, but you could definitely get better elsewhere. Lastly, we chose this location as it looked established and seemed to be a good place to chill for a few hours with a beer. The ventilation and air conditioning was bad though, and it became a little...
