Empire Luxury Private Club — Restaurant in Pattaya City

Finally got a chance to pay a visit. Big holiday weekend at 8pm. Empty. So, I was well aware in advance that their Habanos are double the price of the LCDH stores in Bangkok. (Which means they are priced 200% above international fair market value). Beautiful lounge no doubt and very conducive to a relaxing smoke. Just a glance at the bar selection and I could tell they are in another league. So yes, my intention was to check out the lounge, the Habanos selection and the service. If everything was spot on, I would lay down my credit card for a few hundred us dollars for a top tier cigar and and few drinks. The problem started when I started looking at the cigars in the humidor. There was not a single box code available as Thailand covers the bottom of the box with the cancer labels but sometimes the stamps are off center and you can see the year. I didn't want to pay $269 for a CORO from SEP23. When I started asking to see the bottom of each of the boxes I was interested in choosing from, the two girls working there got very frustrated with me. Even though they spoke and understood English, they did not understand the significance of a box code nor did they realize they had over inflated prices even in Thailand. I tried explaining to them how aged inventory prices differently and they just looked at me like I was insane. The bottom line is I don't think anybody's going there just for the ambiance in the booze selection. They are going for the only decent selection of habanos in all of Eastern Thailand. They realize this and are gouging 100% more then the established houses in Bangkok. They can't tell me a box code? Even Cohiba atmosphere in Bangkok has a aged and mature section. Turn the boxes upside down there and you'll see they've scratched away the sticker in the barcode section. The girls there were just idiots when it came to the industry. After all that was said and done I just had a really bad vibe and decided to head back to my balcony and smoke one of the Montecristo's I had brought with me. Sorry to bust everybody's bubble with their five-star reviews but I buy a lot of cigars in in Thailand and this is by far the biggest rip-off in all of all Asia direct from Pacific...

A cigar bar as nice as you will find anywhere in the world. Good cigar selection. Huge whiskey and gin selection... Food can be ordered from downstairs. Definitely a lot of thought went into designing this bar. Currently there is a 400 baht charge if you bring your own cigar. It's a little steep.. good background music.
