I visited Palace every day for a whole week.
Judging by its facade, Palace looks like a shabby establishment. But in reality, Palace is No.1 in Walking Street. In fact, Palace is No.1 in all of Thailand. No one comes close.
Palace opens at 8pm. But the first hour is quite boring. Make sure you visit right before 9pm. At 9pm, the models (ie. the stunners) enter the stage and that's what Palace is all about. See it for yourself.
If you go to Palace at 10pm or 11pm, you will most likely not find a seat. If you go there at 1am, then the party is pretty much over for that particular night.
Draft beer is 95 Baht. Every 15 minutes, two girls selling lady's tequila shots approach each customer, which could get a little annoying. (The tequila is watered down, a typical business ploy in Thailand.) The shots cost 200 Baht each. And the girls drink them in like 5 seconds and you'll have to buy another one. (Do not feel pressured. You'll end up leaving Palace with broken dreams and an empty wallet.) So when the girls approach you, just smile and shake your head. They may ask you two or three times. Just repeat the process. Smile and shake your head. Then they'll move on to the next customer. (Make sure you smile. Thailand is the Land of Smiles.)
The clientele in Palace is nearly 100% Asian and most tend to be chain-smokers. After one week of Palace, I felt sick for two weeks from the second-hand smoke. People thought I had started smoking. So don't do it if you are very sensitive to cigarette smoke.
For a No.1 bar, Palace is quite cramped inside. And there is only one restroom that is shared. However, there is no attendant in the restroom so you can relieve yourself with peace of mind. (For the opposite experience, see my Baccara review.)
Remember, Palace at 9pm. You CANNOT get the same experience anywhere else...
Read moreAfter countless visits to Palace agogo, this time I was denied entry by the security guard. What was different this time? When the security guard saw me, he was about the slide the curtain open to let me in. Then he realized that I had a lady with me (from another agogo). He immediately closed the curtain and said "Full inside". I know it's full inside. But I always got in before. He probably thought we would be taking up seat space without buying any lady drinks. So we went to XS agogo nearby. They let us in and I spent around 1,400 Baht on lady drinks. (I think 1 lady drink was 200 baht.) Don't worry Palace. I still love you. But let me in next time (lady or no lady). Now, I know how my fellow South Asians brothers feel. Bros, I feel your pain. But never lose hope. Peace be with all...
Oh, and what about inside Palace agogo? This is my opinion. Palace is No.1 in terms of physical beauty. Other agogos may be bigger and have more ladies. But sheer beauty-wise, Palace is the best for me. So I forgive you, Palace. But let me in next time, Mr. Security Guard.
Also, many people are complaining about longtime. Here is my advice. Never do longtime. Always do shorttime. Longtime is very expensive. And people think longtime is all night. It might be in Soi 6. But in the agogos, longtime is usually 4 hours. And the girl will probably stay less than 4 hours. So never do longtime. Always do ST. Keep this strategy and your stay in Pattaya will be more enjoyable and...
Read moreWalked across last night from Lucifer club at around 12.20am and the security guard at the door stopped me from entering by saying in clear english 'It was full' pushing back the curtain to show a lively bar. Meanwhile, with me astonished by his comment and looking at the 3 people on chairs near him, 4 people from other asian nationalities walked past me to go into the place unquestioned and unchecked. People were coming out as well.
If it was a genuine reason, then everyone should have been queuing behind me to wait for any crowding to ease up.
My background: Black from London but spend most of my time in Asia. I speak, read and write Mandarin. Have some family in China and friends from across the region but was out on my own this night.
Really disappointed by this experience as all the other Gogo bars actually got me to visit because security guards kept asking me every other day when l passed by.
I promptly went to Atlantis next door and had a fun time ringing the bell and sharing drinks with everyone. Will l go back? never again, but if you fit their profile maybe it will be a better...
