Arrived around 13:21 Mon. 02 July 2018. The place is very clean. Service was friendly, efficient and extremely fast! Didn't see anything on the menu that I didn't like. I opted for the outdoor seating upstairs, with overhead fans, vice the indoor aircon. I was all by myself upstairs, perfect!
Had the beef & mushroom pie with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables (corn, green peas, and finely diced carrots; which I substituted from the normal green peas [whole or mushy options]); and beef gravy.
Food arrived quickly. Warm but not hot. Mixed veg was the previously frozen, standard tasteless type. Spoke with the Australian partner (owner) about this. Although inexpensive local, fresh vegetables are always available in Thailand. It's hard to cook batches of them and keep the quality good from diner to diner when you're using such a small a laCarte side portions. He suggested next time I tried the pickled red cabbage. I would have loved to have tried it (over the standard mixed veg) but I didn't see it available on the menu.
O.k., the vegetables aside (but I do love good vegetables), the rest of my main course was excellent! Mash was light and fluffy. Beef gravy very good: light but flavourful and not over seasoned. Beef and mushroom pie was to die for!! Such a flaky, crisp, light but hearty crust. Beef was melt in the mouth tender with a gravy inside that blended beautifully with the rich, tender, succulent mushrooms.
As an aside from this review, the owner has some seasonal beef brisket on the go in the BBQ smoker upstairs. (21 hours to smoke the brisket!)
For dessert, I had the cheesecake with strawberry sauce. Normally, my personal preference is for a graham wafer crust (as depicted on the menu). Mine came with a dark chocolate crust; perfectly balance in firmness, density, chocolate flavour and sweetness. Such was the entire (plain flavoured) cheesecake. For cheesecake, the house made strawberry sauce and house made whipped cream (again, texture, lightness, flavour and sweetness) are hard to beat!
There are some (10 total) standard hot (temperature) Thai dishes/snacks on the menu.
O.k., pies are king here be they beef, chicken, lamb veg, etc.; but there's so much more on the menu (various grilled cheese sandwiches, a baguette [made in house] sandwich, BBQ pork ribs, lasagna, to name but a few.
So the bill, prompt like all my service, was as follows (all prices Thai Baht):
Beef & mushroom pie 150. Mashed potatoes, veg, and a small but generous boat of gravy 100. Cheesecake with strawberry sauce and fresh whipped cream 125. Food total 375. Alcohol: 4 bottles of Beer Singha 300.
No added tax. No service charge!! Grand total 675 Baht.
After the meal I tried a drop of the house made BBQ sauce that came with my meal. Delicious! Not too sweet, nor too thick nor too smokey like waaaay too many BBQ sauces out there! Hmmmm. This sauce would go perfect with long & slow smoked beef brisket!!!
Just wish they would put the entire menu on a website as not all of us are on Facebook or social media.
Overall rating 9.5/10. Big value for money especially of such quality!
Is NOW too soon to go back??? Can't wait til...
ย ย ย Read moreFirst impressions - Wow I've been meaning to visit Tinnies for a long time but I only visit Pattaya maybe twice a year. I've seen the products on Facebook so really had to go. Well this weekend I made it and I'm really glad I did. When entering the shop and restaurant I had no idea it would be so spacious and welcoming. I was welcomed with a huge smile by a lady I believe to be the owner of this place. Well if you could sell beauty this lady could make millions for sure ๐ฅฐ Anyway my wife and I decided to have lunch and she opted for Chicken and mushroom and I had the roast lamb pie with fries and peas. Wow wow wow - these are not just pies, these are Tinnies pies and are a treat to eat I can assure you. There are of course lots of goodies on the menu but if I'm honest I only had eyes for the pies ๐ I heard comments that the 175baht for a pie is expensive but trust me guys - if you want a 100baht pie you can go and get one and eat 2nd class. Approx ยฃ3.80 for these is a bargain ๐ Anyway food consumed and 2 very happy customers ๐คฃ I write a lot of reviews and as always I visit the toilet purely to see how clean and usable it is. The toilets ( I thought) were at the top of a flight of stairs that will raise your heartbeat but the toilets at the top are very clean and tidy. Little did I know that there is also a toilet downstairs but let me say the sign on the door was translated by my wife as 'Toilets on the 2nd Floor's As the majority of customers are non Thai ( I guess ) how about a sign in English ? I could send you one ๐ Back to the review - I went to the til to pay and spotted a cream Apple turnover so that came home with me and can only be described as yummy and fattening ! Forgot the photo before I ate it - oops While I was there we joined the Line group and will arrange delivery of pies that I'm told are door to door so happy days Delivery I believe is 250 baht with no minimum order but no point having 2 pies ๐ค Free delivery at the moment I was told. I'm back in Pattaya at the end of the year so guess where I'm going for lunch ? Very minor point - I really dislike crinkle cut chips, so very 1980's I really don't know what I have...
